Comment:
Bought based on CR rating. This thing did its job, it toasted bread and did that reasonably well. After 1 year of use about twice a week, it will not pop up when toast is done and it will not turn off. Happened overnight. Will not buy again. My parents had a toaster that lasted over 30 years. I have owned at least 10 in the same time.

Comment:
I'm surprised that it was highly rated since its performance was spotty: too dark, too light, uneven from side to side and from slot to slot. Slots are wide enough for a bagel but not long enough for artisanal bread. Then the display died (probably a blown capacitor) and it only works if I hold down the lever. That's equivalent to holding a piece of bread on a forked stick over a campfire. CR couldn't possibly test long enough for design faults like that to show up so there's no blame there. This is just a warning for future purchasers: Don't Do It!
