The Back to Basics Egg and Muffin Toaster, $40, offers a simple, relatively quick way to make eggs and egg sandwiches without
using a pan or pot. It combines a two-slot toaster with a side steaming chamber that poaches, hard boils, or soft boils an
egg and warms pre-cooked meats while the bread is toasting. The toaster cycles the toasting element on and off so that all
the ingredients are ready at the same time--in about five minutes.
Overall, the Back to Basics does a good job of making egg sandwiches. But if you like your eggs fried or your toast dark,
you'll need to stick to a pan and one of our other highly-rated conventional toasters. Another drawback: The steaming pan
can't be removed from the toaster, making it harder to clean grease and grime from its crevices.
