We bought this wine cellar based on Consumer Reports Best Buy recommendation, and placed it in our great room. It is so noisy when the motor kicks on, I sometimes have to turn up the volume on the TV. It's annoying, and it's right there. Also we needed to reverse the door hinge from right side to left, and the instructions were difficult to follow, plus Haier had not drilled some of the required holes. We called Customer Service, and they said they would send a repair company. After a week and several phone calls, we gave up and drilled the holes ourselves. What's up with Consumer Reports rating methods?

I wrote the first review for this product and still have not received a working unit. Called today and the guy I spoke to so many times is no longer with the company and made no notes from engineering of the approval to receive a new unit. I am starting new with a young lady who says she will do the best she can. It is beyond belief that a company could care so little for the consumer. Replacement in a timely fashion should have been good business and kept me from making my truthful claims. I will never purchase another product from this company and will be very surprised if they ever make good on the unit that never worked out of the carton sitting in my den. When I expressed my outrage at starting over and asked for a supervisor, naturally I was already at the top of the complaint chain. Never had such poor product follow up.
Thanks,
Mark

Got this on the Consumer Reports recommendation when the old one quit after twelve years. After finally getting it installed, as a built-in, the light wouldn't go off with the door closed, the alarm for an open door stayed on and it wouldn't cool down. Two service calls, one of which was to install a new circuit board, did not pan out. The technician said the unit was not repairable. Countless phone calls to authorized service in town and Haier out of town were too many to count. Had to plead enough is enough and I deserve a new unit. Too much red tape. Waiting to hear back from engineering etc. New unit should be here in three weeks. More red tape. They are not really sorry that I got a lemon right out of the carton. I even have to pay to remove and reinstall the new one. Not a happy camper. Old reliable was an Avanti. Should have stayed with that brand. Usually I can rely on Consumer Reports for a reliable purchase. Not this time.
