About - Electrolux Perfect Steam EWMED65H[IW]

The Electrolux Perfect Steam EWMED65H[IW] is part of the clothes dryer test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, electric dryer models like the Perfect Steam EWMED65H[IW] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Drying performance:
This score combines performance on three types of laundry loads of different sizes and fabric mixes: A 12-lb. load, predominantly cotton, representing a family's large weekly load; an 8-lb. load of cotton/polyester blend clothing; and a 3-lb. load of synthetic delicates, women's pajamas, nightgowns, bras and underwear.

Capacity:
Among the models we tested, drum volume varied from about 6 to 8.0 cu. ft.

Convenience:
For this measurement, we judged controls and ergonomics, such as ease of loading and unloading, servicing the lint filter, whether the door could clear a tall basket, and whether the machine has a raised edge to contain spills.

Comment:
On the average, I use my Electrolux dryer 4-6 times once a week. My dryer is out of warranty. My main complaint is that it makes an extremely loud noise when drying. I have read through the complaints and only saw this issue once, which makes me think I have a lemon. I called a service repair company first before calling Electrolux. They took my dryer apart and found that a plastic piece inside on the bottom was loose and banging. It could not be bolted down because it was plastic. I then called Electrolux and their response was that they would send a repair service and charge me. If it was found to not be repairable, the person with whom I spoke said that nothing else could be done. I felt that if I did have a lemon, it should be replaced. It was purchased new with the washer in 11/27/2010 and started making noise early on, however, I didn't call for repair until over a year later because of demanding personal issues.
It also does not steam well, which I realized right away, but was not as bothersome as the loud noise. Clothes are also damp when cycle is complete.
I will never buy another Electrolux product because of poor quality and service!

Comment:
This has been a great dryer. We are a large family and the dryer gets used approximately 15 times a week. It has worked flawlessly since we bought it and have had no issues. the only thing I wish was different is a more efficient lint screen as too much lint gets past the screen requiring additional cleaning.

Comment:
We have had this dryer for six months and so far the motor has had to be replaced once, the heating element is on its third repair, and the clothes still are not getting dry. This is the worst dryer I have ever owned and most certainly makes me regret my decision to purchase Electrolux appliances across the board. Absolutely a pile of trash and not worth anything at this point. Very, very disappointed.
