The LG DLE1001W is part of the clothes dryer
test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, electric dryer
models like the DLE1001W are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.
This score combines performance on three types of laundry loads of different sizes and fabric mixes: A 12-lb. load, predominantly cotton, representing a family's large weekly load; an 8-lb. load of cotton/polyester blend clothing; and a 3-lb. load of synthetic delicates, women's pajamas, nightgowns, bras and underwear.
Among the models we tested, drum volume varied from about 6 to 8.0 cu. ft.
For this measurement, we judged controls and ergonomics, such as ease of loading and unloading, servicing the lint filter, whether the door could clear a tall basket, and whether the machine has a raised edge to contain spills.
About This Brand
This company is known for its TrueSteam dryers and the designer colors available for its models. Some models have a steam generator intended to eliminate wrinkles. Prices for LG dryers range from $700 to $1,200.
Stackable You can save space by placing the dryer on top of a suitable washer. Note that a special kit is sometimes required to mount the dryer on top of the washer.
Dimensions (in.) The exterior measurements of the dryer with the door closed, in inches (height x width x depth). Be sure to allow clearance in the rear for the vent duct.

Stainless-steel drum A stainless-steel drum is likely to resist damage better than plastic and painted metal drums.
Porcelain top A porcelain top resists scratching better than a painted one but generally adds to a dryer's cost. Painted tops, far more common, are often quite durable with normal use.
Drying rack The rack attaches inside the drum to keep items such as sneakers or sweaters from tumbling.
Custom programs This feature allows you to save your favorite settings.
Steam option Generally, a water hook-up is required with this feature. In this cycle, a small amount of water is sprayed into the drum while tumbling with heat. It helps to reduce wrinkles and odors, but is intended only for a few garments at a time.
We like the w/d combination here...the top load washer doesn't smell like many top loaders and the dryer does a good job too.

One thing to watch out for....especially on the dryer. Do NOT put baskets and the like

I've owned this dryer for about a year now, buying it on clearance for less than $400. I already had the matching washer, which I have been thoroughly impressed with from day one. I like the automatic cycle settings in that they are extremely efficient in drying....oftentimes a full load of cotton wovens will take less than fifteen minutes to completely dry; and they come out wrinkle-free, ready to wear. The incredible spin cycle of the washer is the perfect compliment to this dryer, the two making for a very short laundry day. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this to anyone. If I had to identify one issue I would say that the curved top without a back panel means that I sometimes have to rescue socks from the space between the machine and the wall.
