About - LG DLEX5170[W]

The LG DLEX5170[W] is part of the clothes dryer test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, electric dryer models like the DLEX5170[W] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Drying performance:
This score combines performance on three types of laundry loads of different sizes and fabric mixes: A 12-lb. load, predominantly cotton, representing a family's large weekly load; an 8-lb. load of cotton/polyester blend clothing; and a 3-lb. load of synthetic delicates, women's pajamas, nightgowns, bras and underwear.

Capacity:
Among the models we tested, drum volume varied from about 6 to 8.0 cu. ft.

Convenience:
For this measurement, we judged controls and ergonomics, such as ease of loading and unloading, servicing the lint filter, whether the door could clear a tall basket, and whether the machine has a raised edge to contain spills.

Comment:
I purchased this machine because of the size. I needed XLarge capacity for quilts and bedding. This machine dries thing the way I want them dried. I can put T-Shirts in and use Damp Dry button and shirts come out wrinkle free and damp so I can hang them up to finish drying. I can shorten time, especially for delicates or just dry using preset 20, 40, etc. minutes. End of Cycle Buzzer is a delicate little tune which is not annoying. So far I love this machine!

Comment:
This thing is amazing! I can't believe how well the moisture sensor works. Love the steam option. Doesn't get all of the wrinkles out, but impressive and efficient enough to skip ironing most of my shirts. Wish the noise signal was louder for end of cycle. Great electronic tones, but can't hear it unless you're nearby.

What used to take 3 cycles on my old dryer takes 1 cycle with this dryer. Wish I would have purchased it sooner.
