About - LG DLEX8000[V]

The LG DLEX8000[V] is part of the clothes dryer test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, electric dryer models like the DLEX8000[V] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Drying performance:
This score combines performance on three types of laundry loads of different sizes and fabric mixes: A 12-lb. load, predominantly cotton, representing a family's large weekly load; an 8-lb. load of cotton/polyester blend clothing; and a 3-lb. load of synthetic delicates, women's pajamas, nightgowns, bras and underwear.

Capacity:
Among the models we tested, drum volume varied from about 6 to 8.0 cu. ft.

Convenience:
For this measurement, we judged controls and ergonomics, such as ease of loading and unloading, servicing the lint filter, whether the door could clear a tall basket, and whether the machine has a raised edge to contain spills.

Comment:
Sometimes it starts, and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it dries clothes, and sometimes it doesn't. Tried to get warranty service, and after much struggle a technician came. While he was here, by Murphy's Law, the dryer worked fine. After he left, it started being unreliable again.

I hate this thing, and I want to punish LG for making such an annoying and expensive product.

Comment:
Dryer has many bells and whistles to help sell it. But the basics are not there. After owning it less than 3 months, the dryer would not come on. When I called for warranty service, the rep spoke in a heavily-accented dialect difficult to understand. Had to go through a 15-minute drill before rep would even attempt to call a repairman. Repairman did not answer, so she gave me the direct contact number with an area code that was not even in my city (a major metro area with over 500,000 pop.). LG has tried to manufacture an elaborate dryer, but has failed to follow up with contracting with adequate number of repair shops to cover their service needs. Followed up with a service supervisor in AL who was absolutely no help. Pathetic warranty service. LG obviously not ready for the major leagues. After 2 hours since initial call, still waiting (and counting) for return call from service man.

Comment:
Pick a cycle and it works perfectly!
I have dried everything from a king comforter with sheets and pillow cases to a full load of mixed items including jeans, towels, shirts, socks, underwear and sweaters with very very little or no lint on anything.
The Steam Cycle is great for previosly stored wrinkled items.
This dryer is very easy to use with always great results.
This dryer knows exactly what to do with each cycle with its Drying Sensor for perfect automatic heat selection and time even if you want clothes slightly damp for ironing ie special dress shirts etc.
I am stunned by this machines ability to automatically dry anything just by selecting a cycle and forgetting it....even a feature to keep clothes wrinkle free for hours if you can't remove them right away!
