About - Maytag Bravos MEDB200V[Q]

The Maytag Bravos MEDB200V[Q] is part of the clothes dryer test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, electric dryer models like the Bravos MEDB200V[Q] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Drying performance:
This score combines performance on three types of laundry loads of different sizes and fabric mixes: A 12-lb. load, predominantly cotton, representing a family's large weekly load; an 8-lb. load of cotton/polyester blend clothing; and a 3-lb. load of synthetic delicates, women's pajamas, nightgowns, bras and underwear.

Capacity:
Among the models we tested, drum volume varied from about 6 to 8.0 cu. ft.

Convenience:
For this measurement, we judged controls and ergonomics, such as ease of loading and unloading, servicing the lint filter, whether the door could clear a tall basket, and whether the machine has a raised edge to contain spills.

Comment:
I owned this dryer for 7 months. This dryer suddenly stopped heating and we had a qualifed repairman out four times with 3 seperate parts. The dryer was completely torn down 3 times for troubleshooting to no avail, it was not repaired after 3 parts. I'm on my way to seek a replacement dryer after my research through consumer reports...

Comment:
No one should ever buy this product. I have owned it for one year tomorrow...and it has been nothing but problems since the day I bought it. Finally, after all the parts have been replaced, Whirlpool has agreed to buy back the set..both washer & dryer. I will never buy a Maytag/Whirlpool product again. I began by working with the dealer, to no avial. Called several repair people who all said it was a venting problem. We have had a dryer in the same place with the same venting for 20+ years. Never a problem. Called Whirlpool corporate to get their advice. Got to speak to one of their executives, who proceeded to insult me and call me a liar. What fun...But, finally, like I said, after 1 year of total agony, 50+ hrs. of work lost, and over 100 miles driven to meet repairmen, Whirlpool is finally buying back their junk, with their apologies. Now, the hunt is on to find a reliable product.

Comment:
I purchased this dryer in September 2009. The timer on this one went out in June 2011. It has cost me over $290 to fix it. Extremely poor quality. I will not buy another Maytag product.

Strength
never dried well from the get go.
Weakness
blower belt broke twice. drum seal disintegrated. does not dry well. takes many cycles to completely dry.
the blower belt first broke while under warranty and now the same issue has occurred and maytag will not repair. i must either buy a year plus plan for $290 which covers cost, labor and another year of warranty or a fee of $129 plus parts and labor for being out of warranty. i could understand this reasoning if this was a completely different issue but i was told by a Maytag Factory Authorized Repairperson that if I had to have the machine worked on three times it was considered a lemon. the first time around took an act of congress to get it repaired. they cancelled my appt. several times and refused to pay best buy/geek squad because i hadnt bought it there. my kenmore lasted 20 years. r.i.p.
