This Whirlpool-owned brand is positioned as a durable brand but priced a bit lower than Whirlpool-branded products. The company makes electric and gas products and also sells models that are stackable with the washer. Prices for Maytag dryers range from $350 to $900.
Stackable You can save space by placing the dryer on top of a suitable washer. Note that a special kit is sometimes required to mount the dryer on top of the washer.

Stainless-steel drum A stainless-steel drum is likely to resist damage better than plastic and painted metal drums.
Porcelain top A porcelain top resists scratching better than a painted one but generally adds to a dryer's cost. Painted tops, far more common, are often quite durable with normal use.
Drying rack The rack attaches inside the drum to keep items such as sneakers or sweaters from tumbling.
Custom programs This feature allows you to save your favorite settings.
Steam option Generally, a water hook-up is required with this feature. In this cycle, a small amount of water is sprayed into the drum while tumbling with heat. It helps to reduce wrinkles and odors, but is intended only for a few garments at a time.
Have had this dryer for 3 months and it was a great buy for the money. Switched the door hinges and encountered a typo (FYI: a missing step) in the directions that presented a minor time setback. The instruction booklet should be printed on paper nicer than newsprint though. Went on the Maytag website and printed the user guide (cheat sheet) from a PDF file. I keep it on top of the dryer so even my husband can dry his work clothes perfectly without guessing. After using the settings a few times they seem pretty self-explanatory. But men can be more adverse to change, so the cheat sheet works great. I love everything about this machine except the signal sounds. They should stick with traditional buzzer types and not mini arpeggios and hokey tunes. The sound volume is very quiet and usually is not heard at all. Please just go back to the buzzer and give us a volume control that can be turned up and heard anywhere in the house if need be. Fortunately the 'wrinkle prevent feature' saves me when I don't hear the end of cycle signal. Every few minutes it re-fluffs the clothes without heat so wrinkles won't set in. This is my FAVORITE FEATURE:)
