About - Samsung DV422EWHD[WR]

The Samsung DV422EWHD[WR] is part of the clothes dryer test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, electric dryer models like the DV422EWHD[WR] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Drying performance:
This score combines performance on three types of laundry loads of different sizes and fabric mixes: A 12-lb. load, predominantly cotton, representing a family's large weekly load; an 8-lb. load of cotton/polyester blend clothing; and a 3-lb. load of synthetic delicates, women's pajamas, nightgowns, bras and underwear.

Among the models we tested, drum volume varied from about 6 to 8.0 cu. ft.

For this measurement, we judged controls and ergonomics, such as ease of loading and unloading, servicing the lint filter, whether the door could clear a tall basket, and whether the machine has a raised edge to contain spills.

Heating Element Broke
Adjustable Temperature
Easy To Use
Energy Efficient
Hard to Clean Lint Filter
Best Uses
Owned dryer 18 months and the heating element needs replacement. Sears price to fix is 328. About half the cost of a new dryer. Samsung was selected due to Consumer Reports rating. Seems the reliability factor is not good. Is mine a one off or is this typical. Never had a heating element go out on other dryers over the years.

The Samsung Bad review was really alarming. We had already ordered ours when I read it. It filled me with dread!

In actuality, our dryer of the same model DEFINITELY DOES NOT wad up the clothes into a burrito. Both the sensor and timer modes work very well; clothes come out loose and wrinkle free. The poor guy who wrote the Samsung Bad review must have got a terrible lemon. I watched his horrifying video and must admit that its high production values (captions, making the dryer run with the door open so viewers can see) made me wonder if it was posted by a competitor or someone with a grudge against Samsung.

The dryer is very simple. It lacks the bells and whistles of higher priced Samsungs(like an interior light and some of their many cycles). The cycles it does have--both sensor and timed--work very well and seem adequate to our laundry needs.
