About - Whirlpool Duet WED70HEBW

The Whirlpool Duet WED70HEBW is part of the clothes dryer test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, electric dryer models like the Duet WED70HEBW are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Drying performance:
This score combines performance on three types of laundry loads of different sizes and fabric mixes: A 12-lb. load, predominantly cotton, representing a family's large weekly load; an 8-lb. load of cotton/polyester blend clothing; and a 3-lb. load of synthetic delicates, women's pajamas, nightgowns, bras and underwear.

Capacity:
Among the models we tested, drum volume varied from about 6 to 8.0 cu. ft.

Convenience:
For this measurement, we judged controls and ergonomics, such as ease of loading and unloading, servicing the lint filter, whether the door could clear a tall basket, and whether the machine has a raised edge to contain spills.

This new dryer was installed before we moved in this house. We had a Whirlpool Duet bought 7 years ago at our other house. New house does not have gas so had to buy a new electric dryer and went with Whirlpool because of ratings and previous experience. This new dryer never worked. Repairman has been our twice . Got a replacement part but that did not fix it so did more diagnoses with Whirlpool technical support. Now they are going to replace wiring harness and motor. Whirlpool refuses to replace it or even take it out to repair but are planning to do the repair in our garage! Meanwhile, we still do nor have a dryer. Absolute NO customer service. This is unacceptable! I consider this appliance a lemon and do not want it.
