The Kenmore Elite 91073 is part of the clothes dryer
test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, gas dryer
models like the Elite 91073 are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.
This score combines performance on three types of laundry loads of different sizes and fabric mixes: A 12-lb. load, predominantly cotton, representing a family's large weekly load; an 8-lb. load of cotton/polyester blend clothing; and a 3-lb. load of synthetic delicates, women's pajamas, nightgowns, bras and underwear.
Among the models we tested, drum volume varied from about 6 to 8.0 cu. ft.
For this measurement, we judged controls and ergonomics, such as ease of loading and unloading, servicing the lint filter, whether the door could clear a tall basket, and whether the machine has a raised edge to contain spills.
About This Brand
This brand, sold at Sears, is known for its reliability and offers a wide choice of models. The Kenmore brand also offers a number of different dryer lines that match its washing machines: Kenmore, Elite, HE5, HE5 Steam, Oasis, and HE2. Some Kenmore dryers use steam to freshen up clothing or remove wrinkles. Prices for the dryers range from $350 with sensor to $1,300.
Stainless-steel drum A stainless-steel drum is likely to resist damage better than plastic and painted metal drums.
Porcelain top A porcelain top resists scratching better than a painted one but generally adds to a dryer's cost. Painted tops, far more common, are often quite durable with normal use.
Drying rack The rack attaches inside the drum to keep items such as sneakers or sweaters from tumbling.

Steam option Generally, a water hook-up is required with this feature. In this cycle, a small amount of water is sprayed into the drum while tumbling with heat. It helps to reduce wrinkles and odors, but is intended only for a few garments at a time.
Dryer works great! The my cycle option allows you to program 1 cycle into memory, which makes starting the dryer very easy. It huge capacity allows for large loads. Drys extra large loads in under a hour. My old dryer took 2 - 3 hours to dry smaller loads.

Con - the steam option is a container that has to be manually filled up on a frequent basis (about once a week). My old steam dryer had a water line hooked up to it so this container is a inconvenience to me. The lint filter must be opened to clean it out - my preference would be a lint filter that does not need to opened. Also, the metallic color shows dust very easily. Wish I would have gone with the white color because of the dust.
