The LG DLG1002W is part of the clothes dryer
test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, gas dryer
models like the DLG1002W are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.
This score combines performance on three types of laundry loads of different sizes and fabric mixes: A 12-lb. load, predominantly cotton, representing a family's large weekly load; an 8-lb. load of cotton/polyester blend clothing; and a 3-lb. load of synthetic delicates, women's pajamas, nightgowns, bras and underwear.
Among the models we tested, drum volume varied from about 6 to 8.0 cu. ft.
For this measurement, we judged controls and ergonomics, such as ease of loading and unloading, servicing the lint filter, whether the door could clear a tall basket, and whether the machine has a raised edge to contain spills.
About This Brand
This company is known for its TrueSteam dryers and the designer colors available for its models. Some models have a steam generator intended to eliminate wrinkles. Prices for LG dryers range from $700 to $1,200.
Stainless-steel drum A stainless-steel drum is likely to resist damage better than plastic and painted metal drums.
Porcelain top A porcelain top resists scratching better than a painted one but generally adds to a dryer's cost. Painted tops, far more common, are often quite durable with normal use.
Drying rack The rack attaches inside the drum to keep items such as sneakers or sweaters from tumbling.
Custom programs This feature allows you to save your favorite settings.
Steam option Generally, a water hook-up is required with this feature. In this cycle, a small amount of water is sprayed into the drum while tumbling with heat. It helps to reduce wrinkles and odors, but is intended only for a few garments at a time.
This applies to the LG 1102 with dual moisture sensors. I use this machine 3-5 times a week. I purchased it because my the moisture sensor quit working on my old Kenmore. Its nice looking, the controls are simple enough, and it checks to be sure the duct isn't restricted. The mechanical part is quiet enough, but the flame burns much louder than my old dryer. (Indicates the flame is burning much to lean) This machine works OK on timed cycle, but always leaves everything just a little damp on auto cycles, even when I use extra dry. Talked with an LG C.S. rep, spent an hour testing things I knew were working - it gets hot and the air flow is great. Then he said it was OK. I asked what were the Filipino words for bull and feces. He then said they had no service men in my area, but he would try to find one and get back to me. I'm still waiting.
