The LG DLGX3471[W] is part of the clothes dryer
test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, gas dryer
models like the DLGX3471[W] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.
This score combines performance on three types of laundry loads of different sizes and fabric mixes: A 12-lb. load, predominantly cotton, representing a family's large weekly load; an 8-lb. load of cotton/polyester blend clothing; and a 3-lb. load of synthetic delicates, women's pajamas, nightgowns, bras and underwear.
Among the models we tested, drum volume varied from about 6 to 8.0 cu. ft.
For this measurement, we judged controls and ergonomics, such as ease of loading and unloading, servicing the lint filter, whether the door could clear a tall basket, and whether the machine has a raised edge to contain spills.
About This Brand
This company is known for its TrueSteam dryers and the designer colors available for its models. Some models have a steam generator intended to eliminate wrinkles. Prices for LG dryers range from $700 to $1,200.
Stainless-steel drum A stainless-steel drum is likely to resist damage better than plastic and painted metal drums.
Porcelain top A porcelain top resists scratching better than a painted one but generally adds to a dryer's cost. Painted tops, far more common, are often quite durable with normal use.
Drying rack The rack attaches inside the drum to keep items such as sneakers or sweaters from tumbling.
Custom programs This feature allows you to save your favorite settings.
Steam option Generally, a water hook-up is required with this feature. In this cycle, a small amount of water is sprayed into the drum while tumbling with heat. It helps to reduce wrinkles and odors, but is intended only for a few garments at a time.
When the dryer starts, a time appears on the display - it is completely unreliable - I have set a separate timer at 5 minutes less than the display and come back to the laundry room to find the dryer off, the clothes dried to a crisp and miserable wrinkles. The wrinkle care feature is useless and cool down doesn't really work - the clothes are still hot at the end of that supposed cycle. I'm sorry I got rid of my 15 year old Neptune - it did a better job.

Top performance with its matching washer
Easy To Use
Sheets & Mattress Covers
I purchased this as a mate to the LG washer. As with the washer, this unit is tops. I love that it has a stainless steel drum, not the permatough white type of drum as on the GE this replaced. Great options, I wasn't sure of the value of the steam option, but I'm a sold user now.

buy this dryer only if you like to iron!
Leaves Clothes Damp
I use this dryer daily (several loads) and am extremely frustrated with how the clothes look after drying. I have to iron even perm. press! My old dryer performed much better with fewer gadgets and gizmos. The only setting that is reliable is the manual setting. The auto settings fail to dry the clothes completely. Sorry I bought this dryer!
