About - Cascade Complete With Dawn ActionPacs

The Cascade Complete With Dawn ActionPacs is part of the dishwasher detergent test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, dishwasher detergent models like the Complete With Dawn ActionPacs are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Type:
Liquids and powders generally pour easily; gels have a thicker consistency than liquids. Tablets are a dry, solid premeasured amount of detergent. Pacs have a dissolvable outer package containing a premeasured amount of liquid, gel, or powder. A dispenser product uses a cartridge that automatically dispenses a charge of detergent for 12 loads of dishes.

Size:
Indicates either the net contents in ounces or the number of wash cycles you get from a tablet, pac, or dispenser product.

Cleans dishes:
Gauges how well a detergent removed a caked-on puree of foods from glass dishes.

Comment:
These clean better than many products, but not as well as the Finish Powerball (not Quantum) tablets. My main complaint is that it leaves a rather unpleasant detergent odor on my dishes, especially plastics. I'm sure these are better than the other Cascade products, but I'll stick with the Finish Powerball.

Comment:
Product does a good job on dishes. But don't put a frying pan in, even though it is marked dishwasher safe. It took parts of outside coating on two fry pans, and now is starting to do same on new one I just bought. Also don't put a cake pan in, it will turn black. I am used to putting EVERYTHING in my dishwasher, but I can't do it with this product. Will not buy it again.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Comment:
Tried this, as it's supposedly Cascade's best, but the pacs don't dissolve properly. First, this means all the detergent doesn't get used during the wash cycle, and, second, the stuff gets all gummy in the dispenser and has to be dug out with a knife or other implement. This is with a pretty high-end, fairly new dishwasher and hot water.

Bottom Line
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
