The Finish Gel is part of the dishwasher detergent test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, dishwasher detergent models like the Gel are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below. Type: Liquids and powders generally pour easily; gels have a thicker consistency than liquids. Tablets are a dry, solid premeasured amount of detergent. Pacs have a dissolvable outer package containing a premeasured amount of liquid, gel, or powder. A dispenser product uses a cartridge that automatically dispenses a charge of detergent for 12 loads of dishes. Size: Indicates either the net contents in ounces or the number of wash cycles you get from a tablet, pac, or dispenser product. Cleans dishes: Gauges how well a detergent removed a caked-on puree of foods from glass dishes.

We have been using this product for a long time. In the last 3 - 6 months something has changed. It is now leaving residue in dispenser, film inside dishwasher, rubbery substance (someone else also referenced) in strainers, and dishes are all spotted and covered with white film. I can only wonder how much of the rubbery substance is now lining my pipes. Thinking it was the dishwasher we cleaned everything - it was spotless. One cycle with this product and everything looked aweful again. Tried an alternate detergent and my dishes are clean!!

Finish has pretty much destroyed my dishwasher. Coated the inside of my sprayers with a blue rubbery film that clogs the sprayer holes. Also, the coarse filter screen on the bottom of my GE Profile is clogged with the rubbery substance. Glad I noticed it because I had to take the unit apart to clean it as best as I could. All this after only 1 bottle which lasted about a month.

Comment:

Terrible product. Leaves spots on glasses and does not remove stains. I thought my water softer was not working, and called the technican to learn that it was, and then found that Finish Gel was the culprit. I'm throwing the rest away.
