Comment:
The iron is effective until it begins to leak. I am on my third - or fourth? - Rowenta. It is good until it begins to leak, which is anywhere from three months to three years. Steamwise, it is the best, but the leaks are ruinous to fabrics.

Comment:
During my DAILY use, the ease of ironing with this steel soleplate based iron seems to be better than some non-stick soleplate based irons I have used in the past. However, I feel there are some MAJOR design flaws. The iron tips over very easily when left standing on an ironboard. As a result of the tip-over, cord reel assembly (the base) breaks very easily! I could sense that the iron is not stable at all when left standing (probably due to high center of gravity)! The water sprayer is prone to malfunction (as I have experienced with some I owned). After pressing it to spray, the spray button does not come back quickly to the original position which, I think, could be due to clogging or air-leak. Self-clean did not seem to help cleaning the sprayer.

The screw system to keep cordreel assembly attached to the body could have been better designed to withstand frequent drops. The design engineers should work on making the unit more stable when left standing on an ironing board.

I think CR engineers should re-consider their system for evaluating irons.. The following are worth considering:
a) the material quality of parts (e.g. sprayer, steamer, thermostat, etc.)
b) functional reliability of parts
c) stability of irons (tipping over)- thus causing breakages, and potential injuries to users

The iron began to leak around the cord opening at the bottom after about 6 months. Received a replacement iron under warranty and this new unit started to leak at the same area after about 7 months. Called Rowenta and they claim that there have been no problems with this model, and told me to send it back.I would not recommend this model based on my experience over the past year.

Strength
Steams better than most

love this iron for the price. I've had many irons and has paid much to four times as much as I paid for this one. For the price, this is the best. It outperformed 95% of the irons I've owned.
