Comment:
I was so impressed with the T-FAL 4495 I went back to Walmart and bought the 4476 for the bedroom. At $35 it's the best value in irons by far. It's a 1700 watt iron that produces plenty of heat and steam for whatever you throw at it. So far I haven't had any leaking or spitting issues with my iron. My only complaint, besides the no off switch, is that the ceramic soleplate is draggy on damp cotton and linen when ironing at high heat. I never had that issue with stainless steel. Buy this iron.

Comment:
This is the only iron I have ever used that does not leak water from the plate. I have had a Rowenta that leaked and a Panasonic that leaked. This is such a good iron that my college son asked for one. And he uses it regularly for his tour guide shirts. This iron produces tons of steam and heats quickly. It is true that the reservoir is hard to gauge, but I have learned to make do. But it is IMPORTANT to read the instructions that are included. There are specific instructions for the first use. If followed correctly, this iron will perform well. I have found that it performs better with spring water or tap water so long as the water does not have many minerals. I grew up sewing and used my mothers heavy Singer iron so I prefer a heavy iron because it really does get the wrinkles out, but they don't make them like that any longer.

Comment:
I am a quilter and bag-maker, and I iron shirts and misc. clothing for my family. I use an iron frequently - at least 5x per week. I thought this iron would be wonderful at first as it produced a prodigious amount of steam, but within the first 3 months, it also occasionally spit little brown gunk (which stains) onto the item I was ironing. It would always do it if I refilled the reservoir without cooling the iron first - an annoyance, but possible to work around. Gradually, it has become more random in its spittings, and, this past week the steam option has become very feeble. Today I decided to clean the sole plate (using Iron Off) and do a vinegar/water cleanse. Unfortunately, neither of these things has worked well at all, and the steaming is still minimal. I've had it!! New iron time.
