Comment:
This unit has an extremely small dirt bin - Yes, it is excellent at removing dirt and pet hair from carpet, and so that small dust bin becomes a real disadvantage.

My first initial use of the Kenmore 22614 was a 50% sweep of a room, which literally impacted the entire removable canister with dirt, dust bunnies, and pet hair. This room holds two Cairn Terriers, one Westie, plus their two pet humans between the hours of 6P-4A every day. Designing and providing a canister capacity on par with bagless uprights would help in this regard.

What's with one of CR's consistently stated lows for bagless vacuums, Requires manually emptying the bin, which is messier and ....? Who are they expecting to empty the bin - OR __the bag__ for that matter? Jeeves? Emptying a bagless is easier than a bag unit, AND not as dusty - As anyone who has used a bag style vacuum over the past fifty years can attest! Instructions: a) Remove dust canister from bagless vacuum; b) open the lid of your outdoor trash bin (it's assumed that you keep the outdoor trash bin outdoors); c) press the dust canister's quick release button and shake (or beat same against side of trash bin); d) close trash bin lid.

The reason this unit went back to the point of purchase __immediately__ was due to, what I consider, poor QC (Quality Control). The power cord would very slowly rewind itself into the canister with no assist from moi - It continued to do so even after pulling the cord out, rewinding, and pulling it out again. This resulted in the power cord slowly extracting itself from the duplex as I maneuvered about attempting to clean the 14x16 foot above room.
