About This Brand

Colorful styling, innovative features, and a splashy advertising campaign featuring its namesake owner and designer have helped Dyson quickly become a major player in the U.S. Ranging in price from about $300 to $600, Dyson vacuums have helped increase the average price paid for uprights. Canisters have joined that lineup. Hand vacs are also part of the mix. The brand is available nationwide through major mass merchants such as Target, Best Buy, and Sears.

Cons

Poor Battery Life
Unreliable
Best Uses
Hardwood Floors
Comment:
When the product runs it works very well. It is a good size and does well with hardwood floors and stairs. The big problem is battery life. Fully charged it initially only lasted about 10 mins. Several months later a full charge only lasts a minute. Obviously a battery design flaw. The worst part is that Dyson customer service was non-existent. We have an upright Dyson that has served us well for years but will never think to buy one of these portables from them again.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Comment:
We've owned this for a few years. When it was NEW, the battery only lasted about 10-12 minutes. After the first year, it would only last about 30 seconds of vacuum time. We bought an expensive new battery for it. The NEW battery gave it back the ten minutes of use time (which I think is really poor...you cant properly vacuum a set of stairs or a complete SUV in 10 minutes!) After a short time of owning the new battery, it, too, dwindled down to minutes of use time. Right now, with a full charge, it will stay on for about 15 seconds.

Efficient
Lightweight
Powerful/Good Suction
Cons
Filter Dries Slowly
Filter Takes A Long Time

Best Uses
Daily Cleanup Of Bathroom

Comment:
Excellent tool for daily vacuuming of bathroom floor & surfaces and stairs for hairs and dust, as well as for other small, hard-to-reach areas (think refrigerator condenser grate). Charges quickly, which is a good thing as it only holds a charge for about 10 minutes' usage. The filter must be washed monthly, and it takes a day or more to dry, which interferes with daily usage. It would be nice if Dyson provided a spare filter with the package, to allow users to rotate filters.
