Comment:
This has been used for cleaning cat fur from furniture and for cleaning carpeted stairs. I do not press down very hard on the unit while I'm vacuuming, yet the brush stalls with very little pressure. The plastic elbow that attaches the hose to the main unit clogs easily. I have had to use stiff wire to clear it on several occasions. I bought it since it was highly rated by CR and relatively inexpensive. It has been a disappointment.

I was using this product to clean my wood, tile, mats and staircases daily to every other day. I have 2 kids and a Newfoundland. Approximately, once per week, I would have to cut and clean the brush head, taking the vacuum apart to remove the pet hair from all the edges. After 1 year the brush stopped rotating all together. It still has amazing suction and I can clean the wood and tile floors, I just cannot use it for stairs and the mats/ area rugs - the main purpose for its purchase. I found the constant clogging with pet hair very troublesome. I have tried to replace the belt, but it still would not rotate.
I would not recommend for use with long haired pets.

I use a hand vac for cleaning the car, and spot spills such as when the cat knocks over a potted plant. I also use it for getting cat litter out of crevices behind the litter pan.

The Good: I loved, loved, loved this vac the first time I used it. It cleans like no other I've ever owned.

The Bad: It does blow the dirt around with the exhaust, which is really annoying.

The Ugly: After only a few uses the valve keeping dirt inside the waste receptable became loose/bent and hangs open slightly allowing the dirt to fall back out of the waste catchment into the hose. This valve is simply a thin piece of rubber glued to the side of the tube leading into the dirt container. I'm not sure how anyone expected it to actually work for very long in the first place. Now when I tilt the machine the wrong way dirt falls back out onto the floor. I can't tell you how many times I've finished vacuuming and as I'm wrapping up the cord a sprinkling of dirt goes showering back down and I have to start all over. Arg!

Conclusion: This vacuum is so annoying to use that it is now sitting in the give away box and I'm here looking at ratings for a new one.
