About This Brand

Colorful styling, innovative features, and a splashy advertising campaign featuring its namesake owner and designer have helped Dyson quickly become a major player in the U.S. Ranging in price from about $300 to $600, Dyson vacuums have helped increase the average price paid for uprights. Canisters have joined that lineup. Hand vacs are also part of the mix. The brand is available nationwide through major mass merchants such as Target, Best Buy, and Sears.

Comment:
This was my second Dyson vacuum. I purchased one of the original designs and it lasted 8 years. I purchased an Animal DC41 less than a year ago and the cover of the ball broke off. For the price of this vacuum it should last a lifetime not 9 months

OK - I have area rugs upstairs on the hardwood and all my carpet is downstairs. I cannot make a reference to other retailers according to this site....but....the Dyson doesn't HOLD a candle to my other vacuum that sits downstairs to handle the chores of everything. I still carry it upstairs that I was hoping I wouldn't have to to complete my chores and cleaning. You will have to buy my other machine door to door if you want THE amazing vacuum of all time.

This vacuum will speak for itself once you've used it. When compared to your average vacuum, Dyson's are superior in every measure of performance (at least from my personal experience!) It is expensive, but so worth the money. I have 5 long-haired dogs (Shelties), and this is the only vacuum I have used that is able to handle that amount of hair.

The reason I was willing to buy my first Dyson 7 years ago (despite the price) is because of the 5 year warranty. I figured if it didn't perform, I would be able to return it or have it fixed. To the people whose vacuums broke after a year or 2, DYSON WILL FIX IT FOR FREE! My first Dyson (DC14) broke after 5 years and 2 months. The beater bar quit moving (a gear had broken). I called Dyson, and despite the fact that my warranty was expired by 2 months, they repaired it for free. I took it to my local Sears, filled out the paperwork, it was shipped off for repair and everything was taken care of. So, for 5 years, I had not a single problem. When I did finally have a problem, it was taken care of.

I have used many cheaper vacuums, and have had the motors and belts burn up within a matter of a few uses. Both of my Dysons have taken a beating from the amount of dog hair in my house and I have seen no reduction in performance. This is truly a great brand.
