About This Brand

Hoover introduced its first vacuum in 1907 and has established itself as one of the most recognizable brands in America. More recently, Hoover was bought from Whirlpool by TTI Floor Care, the owners of Dirt Devil. Hoover sells a wide variety of uprights at mass-market retailers, with models ranging from as little as $50 to $300. It also makes hand and stick vacuums, canister models (about $80 to $300), deep cleaners, central vacuums, bare-floor cleaners, and an outdoor sweeper, though the company is best known for its uprights.

Comment:
This is a nice vacuum cleaner for both carpet and tile floors, but we have 2 dogs and lots of dog hair. The vacuum has assumed a bad smell - a doggy smell - from the hair. an odor we can't seem to remove. We even took it to a repair shop and asked them to sanitize it, but whenever we use this, although it cleans well, it leaves a lingering odor behind. I'm not sure why this one model seems to have this issue when others have not, but it makes the vacuum unusable. We're probably going to take it to the dump, even though it looks brand new and still cleans well. Frankly, it stinks. It may have to do with the soft, synthetic nature of the container/bag around the paper bag, rather than the hard plastic typical of most vacuums these days. Anyway, if you have pets, not recommended.

Comment:
My house cleaner uses and likes the machine very much. Light weight, has a throw-away bag and cleans well. Only problem is that the handle has now broken off twice. For that only I do not recommend this product.

Comment:
It makes those other so-called lightweight, yet powerful vacuums pale in comparison. I no-kidding did buy a second one since it seems like manufacturers tend to take really good items off of the market. Or they try to improve it, and they end up making it cheaper or less functional.
