About This Brand
Once exclusive to Sears, Kenmore uprights are now available in Kmart stores as a result of a merger of the retailers. Kenmore uprights typically range in price from about $80 to $300. Kenmore is the best-selling canister brand, with a wide array of models ranging from as little as $50 to $600 or so. It also offers canister hard-surface cleaners and a carpet shampooer.
Bag Denotes whether the model has a disposable waste bag. A growing number of vacuums, particularly upright models, use a container that can be emptied, eliminating the bag. To capture fine-dirt particles, however, these models must use a filter (such as a HEPA filter) that can need regular cleaning, or replacement. Replacement filters tend to be significantly more expensive than bags. While vacuums with bags may also use filters, the bag acts as a pre-filter that helps to keep the fine-dirt filter cleaner, thus extending its performance until cleaning or replacement. Another caveat: Emptying the dustbin and cleaning a filter can be messy, and handling it may expose you to dust and other allergens.
Weight (lbs.) The weight of the vacuum cleaner, to the nearest pound. If you expect to carry your vacuum up and down stairs, consider a lighter vacuum (under 20 pounds).
Brush on/off An on/off switch for the rotating brush lets you stop the brush from rotating when using tools or cleaning bare floors. This helps eliminate scattered dirt on bare floors and reduces the risk of injury if the vacuum tips over during use. It also reduces the risk of damaging a carpet or the finish of a bare floor if the vacuum sits in place at the low-height setting.
Easy on/off A switch that's located on the handle or where your foot can activate it is more convenient than one on the body of the vacuum.
Manual-pile adjust Lets you adjust the height of the machine to a carpet's pile height to allow for easy movement and thorough cleaning. Adjustments are automatic on some models, but we prefer the more precise manual control afforded by some models.
Had it a year, motor burned out. Vacuums dead, time to go shopping for another vac.

Best vacuum cleaner I have ever purchase
Easy to Use
Long Power Cord
Cleans The Carpet
Thought my Hoover did a good job. I was wrong. This cleaner pulls up dirt in the carpet that you thought was removed. I have two cats and one stays in most of the time. This carpet now stands to look just purchased even though 4 years old. We do carpet shampoo once every 4 months. I am a happy shopper.

Decent vacuum overall
Our vacuum finally died after 17 years, so we went on the hunt for a new one. It was a hard choice, but we went with this one. It has a nice long cord. It has very strong suction. The handle is nice to hold while vacuuming. It is pretty quiet, at least compared to our old vacuum. The rotating brush is nice. It helps to get the pet hair off the carpet where the main vacuum can't reach.

There are only a couple things that are a little on the negative side. It is a little tough to push/pull. We have a low pile carpet and this vacuum is on the heavy side and it can be tough to move. This is trying all pile height settings. The suction is so strong that is contracts the hose too much. I was all but ready to return this one because of that reason. It usually takes us about an hour to vacuum the floors, but it took about an hour and a half with this model, all from fighting with the hose. I did figure out that if you only pull the hose from the angle it comes out of the main unit it works better.

We've only had it for a week, so barring it tearing up we are fine with this one.
