Comment:
We bought this vacuum at Costco. We have had other Oreck products and this vacuum serves as our second vacuum for the upstairs. It works well on tile, hardwood, and carpet. Simply put the unit on the low power option for hardwoods and tile. I never had a problem with scratching the floors. This unit is great for stairs too.

I just bought a house with approx 1500 sq ft of lush, cut pile wall-to-wall carpeting. I needed a good vacuum, and this is a great one! I vacuum 3 times per week, since the carpeting is off-white in all the rooms. This vacuum is so light-weight, can easily go under furniture and swerve around corners. Really powerful suction. ALSO, with a touch of a button on the handle, you can go from hardwood/tile to carpeting in no time. It is so much fun to use that I want to vacuum more often! It feels like it is driving itself, but I know it is not. MOST CONVENIENT VACUUM EVER - but it is no frills, so don't look for attachments. I use my Oreck Housekeeper when I have other vacuuming needs.

Comment:
This is my second Oreck and it is a very nice machine. My first Oreck was the full blown Oreck and it lived a tough life as I live in the country and breed horses and dogs. That machine lived for 12 yrs with tough use. The Magnesium has a sharp turn in the tubing after the dirt enters the brush head intake and the dirt and pet hair on my floor will catch and clog there. I kept hoping I would use it often enough to prevent this but it happened a lot and is very frustrating. If I were a better homemaker, it probably would have been able to handle it. I need a more robust machine that can handle the huge amounts of dirt we present and will pass this nice unit on to a relative with less of a challenge for it.
