Comment:
I have owned this vacuum for over two years and it has slowing gone down hill. I have kept up on regular maintence, but it has no suction at all and the hose is useless because of the lack of suction. I paid a lot of money for this hoping it would last, but after two years, it is going in the trash!

Comment:
I use the vacuum approximately once a week, on a surface that consists of about 60% very low-pile carpet or oriental rugs, and the remaining area is all hardwood floors.

This vacuum cleaner was a joy to use in the first year of ownership. It performed flawlessly, was powerful, easy to empty debris, and easy to maintain/clean the HEPA filter. The only cons during my initial use compared to other vacuums I've owned would be the noise level, and the maneuverability is somewhat limited. However, it is as described: a powerful, 12-amp bagless upright with a very long retractable cord.

During the 2nd year of ownership, this vacuum's performance progressively declined. As of this writing, it's suction has deteriorated to the point of being inoperable.

I have carefully maintained the vacuum throughout my ownership of it, by consistently fully emptying the debris canister and cleaning/rinsing the washable filter as needed.

I understand there is a 2-year limited warranty on this product. I've had difficulty in locating any information on the Hoover website that explains what the warranty entails. I know there was a recall for the cord, but I've had no problems with the cord.

I purchased it approximately 2 years ago (possibly less than 2 years ago?), and although the vacuum turns on and makes a lot of noise, the motor is not creating any suction whatsoever, and is now utterly useless. By comparison, the previous vacuum I owned, which cost a third of the price of this one, lasted over 5 years.

When I purchase a product and take care of it, I expect it to last longer than 2 years, especially when paying a decent amount for said product, and the brand is reputable. I carefully researched this product on Consumer Reports before buying, and I am very disappointed not only in Hoover, but also with Consumer Reports for recommending this vacuum as a best buy. Consumer Reports, which is normally a great resource of information, was way off the mark on this one.

I can assure you, this vacuum is very far from being considered a best buy.

I would not recommend this vacuum to anyone, and now I have to scramble to find a replacement that I can afford somehow in time to adequately clean my carpets, as they get filthier by the day.

Pros
Lightweight
Cons
Hose Very Hard To Extend
Noisy
Only 1 Extension Wand
Partial Recline On Body
Small Dirt Capacity
Best Uses

Comment:
I mostly use on carpets and rugs. I bought it because it has a retractable power cord, is bagless, and reasonably lightweight. There are several things not mentioned in the CR review. The body only partially reclines making vacuuming under the coffee table and dining table more difficult and time consuming. It comes with one wand instead of two. The hose is almost impossible to extend and requires continued muscle power to keep it extended. Basically, if you want to use the hose to reach an area, you need someone to hold the vacuum while you pull with all your might to extend the hose. All this effort makes the stretch hose unusable. The usable space in the dirt container is small. I empty it before it reaches the full line and I have to pull the carpet fuzz out with my fingers. I am really disappointed in the CR review.
