I've seen some low consumer ratings and so I had to put my two cents in. Great suction at a great price. I went over the living room that was cleaned with my previous vacuum and could not believe how much dirt and dust was vacuumed up. I just got the Hoover so I do not know how reliable it will be, but for the price I could buy three to four Hoover's for the same price of one Dyson. That is what my sister in-law bought. I think we got the better deal.

I bought this vacuum because it was rated well- as a good buy. I have used it for over a year now and it has not proven to be such a good buy. It gets clogged regularly, the attachment is not long enough, the attachment has no suction and when using the attachment, debris clogged inside flies out the attachment hole--VERY INCONVENIENT. Finally, the hepa filters are NOT readily available a local stores so one purchasing this model will delight in having to buy filters off the internet. (Not a convenience). Owning this vacuum has been frustrating and I don't even own a pet. Basically, after getting over the initial novelty of watching the debris I swept up swirl around in the tank, the honeymoon was over. I would not purchase this particular model again.

I have two dogs so I use this thing several times a week. First, the good. I've used this thing a lot and never had anything break. It works well on carpets. That's about it.

Now the bad. Its useless on non-carpeted floors and furniture. Because you can't turn off the brush, it just blows everything around instead of sucking it up. Combined with the poor suction and everything just bunches up under the vacuum. So I might be vacuuming a floor, thinking its all getting sucked into the canister. But nope, suddenly a large pile of hair and dirt will get kicked out from underneath it. I have to constantly pull off the hose to get the piles of hairs and all the corners because this vacuum just won't get it.

Also because of the poor suction, that little attachment for furniture is completely useless. It relies on the suction power to turn its brush. But you can just stop it with your hand. It has zero ability to pick up anything.
