I purchased this unit from Amazon. It arrived in the time and condition promised.

Before the first bag of dirt was vacuumed, the appliance broke. I called the toll free telephone number, and the various Sears representatives just kept passing me from one person to another, so I asked to speak to a manager.

I was told that the unit was under warranty, and that I should take it to the closest Sears Appliance Repair Center, where the vacuum would be repaired or replaced under warranty.

The Sears Appliance Center laughed and said that the problem is for Kenmore to work out, it's not their problem, go somewhere else.

I don't know whether Sears will stand by their products or not, but I know that will not if you buy through Amazon.

Good vacuum until brushes on beater bar wore out. To replace is almost cost of new vacuum, I have only owned this vacuum for 2 years.

Comment:
Truly awful. Although the suction is strong in theory, in every aspect of use, this vacuum disappoints significantly. The hose is not at all long enough to be useful or practical at baseboards, or anything. Pickup around the edges of the head is very poor. I have to use a broom under kitchen counters then vacuum up what I've swept out. The suction is noticeably strong on carpets, but on hard floors it hardly picks up anything. It is rare that we truly regret a purchase, but this is one of them. The hose attachments are not useful on stairs. The brushed attachment is air driven, not powered. The positive ratings must truly be from laboratory setting. We honestly use a broom and dustpan more often than a vacuum since buying this model.

Also, the hose end cracked in half when the vacuum tipped over. We ordered it from Sears where the website said in stock and ready to ship same day. It has been on back order for three months. Yet another, major disappointment in this vacuum.
