Comment:
This is heavy, it does have a short hose, even with the attachment it's too short. The exhause will blow pet hair to the side sometimes. I would have taken a point away only the price is much better than other vacuum cleaners in it's class. They go on sale frequently.

The suction on this machine is incredible. I don't have to go over an area multiple times. You can see the dirt getting drawn in. The tools are easy to use, pet hair attachment is great for couches and such. Cord is nice and long so I don't have to unplug multiple times to go over an area. Great product for a decent price.

Comment:
Since my Progressive canister is being repaired, I had to have a vacuum cleaner, so I read all of CR's reports for guidance and bought this Elite model. I have hardwood and tiled floors with area carpet rugs throughout our home. The area carpets have never been cleaner; the suction is the best ever for floors and accessory tools. I really like the placement of the tools-visible and attached on the outside, not stuck inside another compartment! The HEPA filer system is also top notch and is easy to access. The noise is a different pitch than most vacuums, but is not as annoying to me. The switches are easy to use and makes shifting from carpet to hardwood EASY. Though excellent in several important ways, I am seriously thinking about returning it! I cannot wrestle with that short hose. In the store I attached and fully extended the wand which made me think that would compensate for the very short hose. Unfortunately, the fully extended wand doesn't help at all, because the hose when pulled is so strong that it pulls back to the original length. To vacuum the top and back side of our long sofa, I had to lift the vacuum as close to it as I could place it before I could reach the top. The same is true for using the crevice tools for behind things. I forgot to place it as close to the bookcase as I could, and the hose pulled the vacuum over onto me. It is inefficient due to these extra movements required to compensate for the short hose. AND it does not edge along the hardwood and tile floors well at all. I had to vacuum that with a stick model that I purchased from Sears for the kitchen floor. It is too thick to fit under many pieces of furniture and heat registers, which means I have to use the smaller stick vacuum. The suction cannot be modulated very well and has no light suction for drapery or lampshade cleaning. It could suck the whole lamp off the table! I am still deciding if I keep it or return it! I could not recommend it to a friend unless he/she had wall to wall carpet. The Elite is perfect for that type of flooring.
