I would like to see Kenmore offer an extension hose. I'm surprised that Consumer Reports didn't mention this in its review, as even another foot of hose would make a huge difference in the ease of using attachments.

Comment:
Having owned many brands of vacuums (Hoover, Filter Queen, Kenmore, etc) over my 72 years, I can speak with some authority on how well they each performed their function; cleaning. My last vacuum was a Kenmore Sensor Clean, that in my opinion, is the best vacuum ever made. After many years of reliable service it finally began to quit working, so after checking CR, the Kenmore Elite seemed to be the best replacement since it likewise used a dirt sensor and was highly rated by Consumer Report (I buy nothing without first checking CR). After only one use of the Elite, all I can say is I was disappointed. The Sensor Clean had sensors that indicated how clean the carpet is with a red, amber and green light, green being clean. It would normally take approximately 30-45 minutes to get the green light in each room; a long time, but I knew the floor was clean (we have a dog). The Elite just indicates when dirt is present, and it seldom indicates dirt is present. After many years of using the Sensor Clean, I have a sense of when the carpet is really clean. The Elite allowed me to vacuum a room is approximately 10-15 minutes, which indicates one of two possibilities; the Elite cleans 3-4 times better and faster than the Sensor Clean or the Elite does not clean as well. Not having meters and other electrical devices to make the call, I can only assume it does not clean as well. It would be a much better product if the Sensor Clean light indicator system were incorporated into the Elite. Other cons are: (1) Flexible hose is much too short. You cannot vacuum on top of objects that are much taller than an end table. (2) Much louder than the Sensor Clean. I realize this is just my opinion and will, in all likelihood go unnoticed, but I have at least put it out there for others to review.
