About - Frigidaire FRFW3700L[W]

The Frigidaire FRFW3700L[W] is part of the washing machine test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, front-loading washing machine models like the FRFW3700L[W] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Washing performance:
This reflects the degree of color change to swatches of fabric that were included in an 8-pound and maximum capacity test load of mixed cotton items using the machines' most aggressive normal cycle. (We do not use special cycle or option buttons.)

Energy efficiency:
This score is based on the energy needed to heat the water for 8-pound and maximum loads using a warm wash and cold rinse. We consider both gas and electric water heaters, and include electricity needed to run the washer and energy needed for drying. Washers that extract more water are scored higher.

Water efficiency:
This score denotes how much water it took to wash our 8-pound load and each machine's maximum load. On models that didn't set the fill level automatically, we used the lowest fill setting that sufficed for the 8-pound load. We then calculated water used per pound of clothing.
About This Brand

Comment:
I have owned this machine and its identical predecessors for the last 15 years or so. They are excellent machines in all respects. No unneeded bells and whistles just good, efficient cleaning in a 40 minute cycle and a spin speed that leaves clothing almost dry before the dryer. When this one goes, I'll buy another.....

We are a two person household with children who drop in. The washer has performed faultlessly. The soap drawer is a bit messy to clean but otherwise it seems a great change from upright top loaders that used to tangle and pull on clothing.

We didn't stack ours although we could have it would have ablated the view from a window. We're in an old Victorian and the combo (which was on sale 2 for 1 at the time was irresistible.

We're both users of the machine and for the most part clothing comes out nearly dry (we like using a clothes line during nice weather). I did put a UPS on the machine (battery backup type) to level out currents. We live in a city but there are lightning strikes and occasional browndowns (New England) and our repair guy (an independent and quite wonderful) said that the electronics in these machines are the most sensitive parts.

We have had no issues with our machine.

Comment:
Used to clean clothing for 2 adults, towels, sheets.
Work clothes do not come out clean, bath towels do not smell clean because the only way they apparently wash is to just have a little water dripping on them & the same plan for the rinse. The way it soaks clothes is ridiculous. Who dreamed up washing machines like that? They are designed for folks who don't have to work & get their clothes dirty.
