Consumer Reports recommends that you match the features on a model to the needs you have. Here's
our take on some of the specifications and features that are commonly available on front-loading washing machine
models like the WM2655H[V]A.
Energy star:
The federal Energy Star program, administered by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy, identifies a wide range of home appliances that use 10-50% less energy and water than standard models. These appliances can help you use less energy at home and save money on your utility bills.
Stainless-steel tub:
Tubs constructed of stainless steel are likely to be more durable than plastic or porcelain, and they allow for higher spin speeds. Plastic is the next most durable choice.
Auto temp. control:
This feature automatically mixes hot and cold water to reach the chosen wash temperature (which differs on various makes of washers). It's a good way to compensate for normal variations in tap-water temperature and prevents problems caused by water that's too cold, which keeps detergent from working properly.
Tested Model
The Ratings of LG WM2650H[W]A were applied to untested model LG WM2655H[V]A, which in our judgment is enough alike in its performance, features, and specs that our test results apply to both.
South Korean company LG was the first to market with steam washers; the company claims its machines provide real steam (created by a steam generator). The latest wrinkle from LG is what it calls the Allergiene cycle. That cycle, says LG, reduces and removes 95 percent of dust mites and pet dander from a load. LG washers range in price from $900 to $1,600.

I love a clean house AND CLOTHES, but this machine doesn't do it...it's horrible. My old top load with agitator was MUCH better. Always cleaning door, gasket, dispensers, etc. to no avail. Use bleach or tub cleaners as recommended to no avail. Leaked from day 1 and repair people cannot fix it. Water flow valves needed replacement within 7 mos. ($395!!!) Digital board went out at 9 mos. ($235!!!) Paid more on repairs now than machine. Going to the curb next!
