About - LG WM3070H[W]A

The LG WM3070H[W]A is part of the washing machine test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, front-loading washing machine models like the WM3070H[W]A are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Washing performance:
This reflects the degree of color change to swatches of fabric that were included in an 8-pound and maximum capacity test load of mixed cotton items using the machines' most aggressive normal cycle. (We do not use special cycle or option buttons.)

Energy efficiency:
This score is based on the energy needed to heat the water for 8-pound and maximum loads using a warm wash and cold rinse. We consider both gas and electric water heaters, and include electricity needed to run the washer and energy needed for drying. Washers that extract more water are scored higher.

Water efficiency:
This score denotes how much water it took to wash our 8-pound load and each machine's maximum load. On models that didn't set the fill level automatically, we used the lowest fill setting that sufficed for the 8-pound load. We then calculated water used per pound of clothing.
About This Brand

South Korean company LG was the first to market with steam washers; the company claims its machines provide real steam (created by a steam generator). The latest wrinkle from LG is what it calls the Allergiene cycle. That cycle, says LG, reduces and removes 95 percent of dust mites and pet dander from a load. LG washers range in price from $900 to $1,600.

Comment:
This washer is an excellent value with lots of features for the price. It is quiet, and since it is in the basement I can rarely hear it running. It is great for delicate clothes and the cold wash option helps to minimize any shrinking. The steam and sanitary options are great for bedding, towels, and homes with pets.

Haven't had any trouble at all with the machine, and have been very pleased with the job it does.

Comment:
After reading the first review I was hesitant to purchase this washer, but when we got to the store the unit and its matching dryer were on sale and I wanted the features this pair had to offer. Maybe the first reviewer should have read the instructions, I know that, even after 44 years of laundry experience, I had to. My washer and dryer are adjacent to my kitchen which is open to my living room. These are so quiet I no longer have to turn the TV up to hear it! All I can say is I truly love the options and both machines work exceptionally well.

Comment:
I have had this washer for only two weeks. I already have had the service man here to determine if there was a problem with the machine. I was told there was no problem, only that I wasn't putting enough laundry into the washer! If I try to wash even 1 pair of jeans with other cold/dark laundry, the machine will not spin dry. My son tried washing 8 pair of blue jeans....same result. I've tried adjusting the load to no avail. Today, I called Best Buy and told them I want a new washer! I started a load of dark clothes at noon time and at 7:30 PM, I was still trying to get the clothes spun dry enough to put them in the dryer.....I give up!!! Thanks, Consumer reports, for NOTHING!!! This website was the ONLY reason I purchased this machine. It was the highest rated LG front-loader.
