Comment:
I use the washer weekly to do laundry for our family of four. It is usually running most of the day Sat and sometime on Sun. When it was first put in by Airport Appliance, their installers forgot to turn the cold water on so at first I thought I had a lemon. But after sliding it out and getting the cold water turned on, it worked from the get-go.

I had an old totally dependable GE top loader that could take a lot of abuse and keep on working so I was worried about the horizontal axis machine being temperamental. So far I've washed bedding, clothes, towels, shoes, jackets, jeans, whites, colors... pretty much everything without any significant problems. Frankly, I really like the machine.

The washer holds a lot and, as long as it remains well balanced during the spin cycle, gets the clothes very dry. I try to do most of my final drying on a clothesline and I find this washer is perfect for line drying as the clothes come out only slightly damp. It spins exceptionally fast.

But the load can sometimes be unbalanced. I've had a couple times when the complete cycle is over and the load is sopping wet. At first I would redo the rinse and spin cycle but this takes another 20 minutes. Then I got smart and started paying attention to the noise the washer was making.

Turns out the washer will try to balance the load about three times during the spin cycle. If it doesn't get it by the end of the third try, it just moves on (clothes still pretty wet). Listen for persistent thumping of an unbalanced load that doesn't stop and keeps recurring.

If you pause and open the washer before it gets done with the third try, you can rearrange the clothes (usually something is wadded up and won't blend well w/ the rest of the load) and then close the door and hit the restart button. This will only reset the spin cycle (about 10 minutes) instead of starting all over w/ the rinse cycle. I've only had to do this a few times and it is usually when there are large towels or other items that can get clumped up.

Now that I've been using the washer for over six months, I've gotten used to how it works and find it a great appliance. Yes, the time to get a load done is longer but, since I work the laundry in around other weekend chores, I'm not bothered by this (also works well w/ line drying which takes longer anyway).

I also have had no problems with leaking, odd smells, mold and other complaints that I've seen on review forums. I tend to leave the door ajar for an hour or so when I'm done w/ the laundry and I think this helps air it out. There is a Pure Cycle that is for self cleaning the drum but I've never used it.

Oh, and make sure you keep the little drain holes in the door gasket clean or water can collect and then drip out on the floor. Just wipe it out occasionally w/ your fingers.

My unit seems to have all the common issues of this model: Bad smell - molds?
Leaked from the bottom - fixed
Leaked from the door
Error codes stopping the cleaning nF at least twice a week
Longer than normal cycles - up to 3 hours for a cycle sometimes...
Dealing with samsung service support as been a nightmare so far. And I had absolutly no help from my vendor - Brault et martinaux.

Comment:
Just bought this machine. Found out that many users on the internet are also facing the same issue which is that the machine will not spin properly, thus leaving the clothes completely soaked. A balance issue: yes! Many suggestions have been made: ensure it is properly leveled, check the hoses, etc etc. Will not fix it. Design flaw. Pure junk.

Good for very small loads only.
Good for very small loads only. I have been using this washer for about forty days. It stated having problems right after the 30 day return period. We were washing 3 jackets. The machine finished but the jackets were soaking wet. That is okay, we thought. Just rinse and spin one more time. That fixed the problem. So we thought. The next load was the following:1 Adult long sleeve t-shirt8 Children long sleeve t-shirt8 briefs4 short sleeve t-shirts1 small thin towel (12 by 24)2 standard towels (44 by 24)The load gets stuck at the 7 minutes remaining mark for a long time. It just keeps spinning at a low speed. After anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours of low speed spinning, the machine says END. But the clothes are soaking wet. The slow spin speed is about 60 rpm. Throughout the wash there was no vibration. Repeating the rinse and spin cycle resulted in the same ending. No error code. We then removed the two standard towels and repeated the rinse and spin cycle. Surprise! It worked. It was successful. I contacted Samsung support. They did not reply. I wrote a review of this problem on their website. Guess what. They replied that they will not post it because the review didnt satisfy their standard. No wonder the rating on their site is so positive. Now Im stuck with a machine that can only wash small loads. If you want to buy a Samsung Washer, think twice.
