The GE GTWN7450DWW is part of the washing machine
test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, top-loading washing machine
models like the GTWN7450DWW are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.
This reflects the degree of color change to swatches of fabric that were included in an 8-pound and maximum capacity test load of mixed cotton items using the machines' most aggressive normal cycle. (We do not use special cycle or option buttons.)
This score is based on the energy needed to heat the water for 8-pound and maximum loads using a warm wash and cold rinse. We consider both gas and electric water heaters, and include electricity needed to run the washer and energy needed for drying. Washers that extract more water are scored higher.
This score denotes how much water it took to wash our 8-pound load and each machine's maximum load. On models that didn't set the fill level automatically, we used the lowest fill setting that sufficed for the 8-pound load. We then calculated water used per pound of clothing.
About This Brand
GE is increasing its front-loading offerings and is also adding its "SmartDispense" technology to a new flagship washer due out in July. The GE line now includes $700, $800, $900, and $1,200 models in the GE and GE Profile models.
Energy star The federal Energy Star program, administered by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy, identifies a wide range of home appliances that use 10-50% less energy and water than standard models. These appliances can help you use less energy at home and save money on your utility bills.
Stainless-steel tub Tubs constructed of stainless steel are likely to be more durable than plastic or porcelain, and they allow for higher spin speeds. Plastic is the next most durable choice.
Auto temp. control This feature automatically mixes hot and cold water to reach the chosen wash temperature (which differs on various makes of washers). It's a good way to compensate for normal variations in tap-water temperature and prevents problems caused by water that's too cold, which keeps detergent from working properly.
Auto temp. control
Auto bleach dispenser Automatic Bleach dispenser releases the bleach at the proper point in the cycle, giving the detergent additives sufficient time to work.
Make sure to look at various retailers for discount pricing before you purchase. My best deal came from Home Depot. This washer is used at least 4 times weekly. Washes well with much less water. Extremely energy efficient, has an e-cycle button that further reduces the cost of any cycle thast is chosen. Spins clothes magnificently well reduces drying time by at least 50%. Aside from a minor loose agitator bolt issue that occured 2 days after purchase, I would buy this unit again in a heartbeat. It is also the largest drum washing capacity that I've ever come across in the marketplace. Easy to operate and nicely quiet.

Broken after 13 months
1 month after warranty expires washer stops working. Washer pauses itself during (abnormally loud) spin cycle with wet clothes and will not restart. Tried running a spin and drain cycle with empty basket, same results. We are a family of 3 and washer does not see heavy use. I will try to update this with repair cost and diagnosis. I did see that GE was worst for reliability on this website, wish I had noticed that before I purchased.

GE does not honor its stated warrenty!~
Machine stopped working after 4 months of use. Getting GE to fix it has been a nightmare.
A. They can't get any repair service out here within 30 days (!?)
B. They offered to pay up to $250 if i take care of arranging repair service myself (where does this number come from? not stated in warrenty, and they could not explain.
C. As soon as i gave a day time / office phone number to schedule a GE repair - as stated on the warrenty - ,they are convinced it is being used commercially and will not honor the warranty. No where in the warrenty does it say that giving office/day time numbers voids the warrenty, or even where the machine is plugged in may void your warrenty (3 people living in 2 seperate appartments, using the washer located in a garage (and using it less than a family of 5) apparently makes this commercial use and voids the warrenty.
The consumer advocate Keesha would not hear any of this, and would not consider this is not used commerically and that is incorrect interpretation on their end.
This is THE WORST customer service (and washer) i have ever experienced, and i have worked in customer service industy my whole life. DO NOT by GE products.
