About - Kenmore 25102

The Kenmore 25102 is a top-loading washing machine available from Kenmore. The 25102 typically costs $448.99.

Consumer Reports recommends that you match the features on a model to the needs you have. Here's our take on some of the specifications and features that are commonly available on top-loading washing machine models like the 25102.

Stainless-steel tub:
Tubs constructed of stainless steel are likely to be more durable than plastic or porcelain, and they allow for higher spin speeds. Plastic is the next most durable choice.

Auto temp. control:
This feature automatically mixes hot and cold water to reach the chosen wash temperature (which differs on various makes of washers). It's a good way to compensate for normal variations in tap-water temperature and prevents problems caused by water that's too cold, which keeps detergent from working properly.

Auto bleach dispenser:
Automatic Bleach dispenser releases the bleach at the proper point in the cycle, giving the detergent additives sufficient time to work.

The Ratings of Kenmore 27102 were applied to untested model Kenmore 25102, which in our judgment is enough alike in its performance, features, and specs that our test results apply to both.

Comment:
I use this machine daily. I find it frustrating on the lid lock, the noise level, and the inaccuracy of the idiot lights as to where the cycle is at.
This machine takes a long time to wash, has no fabric softener dispenser and I constantly fight the lid lock at the end of the wash, waiting as much as 15 min for the light to go out. I would not recommend this product.

Comment:
I stay on top of our laundry, and wash our bedding once or twice a week. So I use this washer everyday. What I like about it is it is a large capacity washer. It does a good job on delicates, and has plenty of cycles to choose from. What I REALLY don't like about it is the cycle for bulky items...sheets, blankets, small rugs ALWAYS causes the washer to become unbalanced! That cycle is specifically for these items, so why would I have this problem? The wash tub could easily hold two lightweight blankets, OR two sets of twin or full-size sheet sets, but the blankets or sheet sets have to be washed separately. Even then, the washer still becomes unbalanced, and boy is it loud when that happens. Even washing regular items or delicates the washer ISN'T AT ALL quiet. I don't like that it doesn't come with a fabric softener dispenser, and using the Downey ball just doesn't seem to get the clothes as soft as I like them. So I generally put the washer through an extra rinse and spin cycle, and add the fs. If you forgot to add something to the washer, after you started it, and are in a rush, be patient, as you need to hit the pause/stop button, and wait for the washer lid to unlock, before you can throw your item in. I should have stuck with Maytag.

Comment:
This machine with no agitator is fraying our towels, rugs, heavy duty items and also putting holes and fraying the bottom of our pants, shorts, blouses, we've already had to throw some clothes away. This
is a disaster, DO NOT Purchase this machine.
