About - Kenmore 25102

The Kenmore 25102 is a top-loading washing machine available from Kenmore. The 25102 typically costs $400 .

Consumer Reports recommends that you match the features on a model to the needs you have. Here's our take on some of the specifications and features that are commonly available on top-loading washing machine models like the 25102.

Stainless-steel tub:
Tubs constructed of stainless steel are likely to be more durable than plastic or porcelain, and they allow for higher spin speeds. Plastic is the next most durable choice.

Auto temp. control:
This feature automatically mixes hot and cold water to reach the chosen wash temperature (which differs on various makes of washers). It's a good way to compensate for normal variations in tap-water temperature and prevents problems caused by water that's too cold, which keeps detergent from working properly.

Auto bleach dispenser:
Automatic Bleach dispenser releases the bleach at the proper point in the cycle, giving the detergent additives sufficient time to work.

Tested Model
The Ratings of Kenmore 27102 were applied to untested model Kenmore 25102, which in our judgment is enough alike in its performance, features, and specs that our test results apply to both.

Comment:
I stay on top of our laundry, and wash our bedding once or twice a week. So I use this washer everyday. What I like about it is it is a large capacity washer. It does a good job on delicates, and has plenty of cycles to choose from. What I REALLY don't like about it is the cycle for bulky items...sheets, blankets, small rugs ALWAYS causes the washer to become unbalanced! That cycle is specifically for these items, so why would I have this problem? The wash tub could easily hold two lightweight blankets, OR two sets of twin or full-size sheet sets, but the blankets or sheet sets have to be washed separately. Even then, the washer still becomes unbalanced, and boy is it loud when that happens. Even washing regular items or delicates the washer ISN'T AT ALL quiet. I don't like that it doesn't come with a fabric softener dispenser, and using the Downey ball just doesn't seem to get the clothes as soft as I like them. So I generally put the washer through an extra rinse and spin cycle, and add the fs. If you forgot to add something to the washer, after you started it, and are in a rush, be patient, as you need to hit the pause/stop button, and wait for the washer lid to unlock, before you can throw your item in. I should have stuck with Maytag.

This machine with no agitator is fraying our towels, rugs, heavy duty items and also putting holes and fraying the bottom of our pants, shorts, blouses, we've already had to throw some clothes away. This
is a disaster, DO NOT Purchase this machine.

Comment:
I am not happy with this machine. I specifically looked for quiet, low vibration, and good cleaning in CR reviews. I moved into an apt and the HOA rules want quiet machines. This washer vibrates pretty badly no matter what size or type of load it has in it. maybe its noise is not too bad.

worse, there is no softener dispenser. it is designed to use the Downy softener ball. go find it. so if I want to add softener, I have to fill a pitcher with softener and diluting water upstairs and bring it downstairs to try to CATCH the right part of the rinse cycle...which has to be paused b/c the lid LOCKS. omg. not what I bargained for.

I suppose the machine is energy efficient, so if you buy this model, brace yourself for no agitator, low level of water, and some clothes being twisted together.

guess i'm spoiled. had maytags and kenmores for decades and was pretty happy.
