About - Kenmore Elite 3152[2]

The Kenmore Elite 3152[2] is part of the washing machine test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, top-loading washing machine models like the Elite 3152[2] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Washing performance:
This reflects the degree of color change to swatches of fabric that were included in an 8-pound and maximum capacity test load of mixed cotton items using the machines' most aggressive normal cycle. (We do not use special cycle or option buttons.)

Energy efficiency:
This score is based on the energy needed to heat the water for 8-pound and maximum loads using a warm wash and cold rinse. We consider both gas and electric water heaters, and include electricity needed to run the washer and energy needed for drying. Washers that extract more water are scored higher.

Water efficiency:
This score denotes how much water it took to wash our 8-pound load and each machine's maximum load. On models that didn't set the fill level automatically, we used the lowest fill setting that sufficed for the 8-pound load. We then calculated water used per pound of clothing.

Large Capacity
Constantly Unbalanced
Long Cycle
Best Uses
The capacity is great but unless your load is perfect it goes out of balance and refills and refills with water until it can balance itself out again. If it can't it just stops. Every load has to have perfectly similar items and can't be too small or too big. I have never had to babysit a washing machine until this one and I have hated it since day one. We are returning it.

Best Uses

Heavy/Bulky Items
Use it weekly for bedding and all cloths. Wish I would have gotten the glass top would like to see what is happening during the cycles. Like the large load but have to use the low spin most of the time to keep it from unbalancing. In order to keep from unbalancing I layer the cloths when loading seems to work and still gets the cloths clean. Don't seem to be efficient if it starts over after clearing the unbalance error.

very dissapointed
Best Uses
I am very disappointed with this washer. It always becomes dis-balanced whatever the load. When washing towels, comforters and mattress pads always get the error message. Uses very little water so doesn't wash the clothes well. I purchased it when I purchased a new house and didn't use it for two months because I was living in the old house. When I tried to exchange it at Sears just a few days passed 60 days from purchase date, they wouldn't do it. Very disappointed with Sears service as well, will never buy from them ever again.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
