About - Kenmore Elite 3152[2]

The Kenmore Elite 3152[2] is part of the washing machine test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, top-loading washing machine models like the Elite 3152[2] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Washing performance:
This reflects the degree of color change to swatches of fabric that were included in an 8-pound and maximum capacity test load of mixed cotton items using the machines' most aggressive normal cycle. (We do not use special cycle or option buttons.)

Energy efficiency:
This score is based on the energy needed to heat the water for 8-pound and maximum loads using a warm wash and cold rinse. We consider both gas and electric water heaters, and include electricity needed to run the washer and energy needed for drying. Washers that extract more water are scored higher.

Water efficiency:
This score denotes how much water it took to wash our 8-pound load and each machine's maximum load. On models that didn't set the fill level automatically, we used the lowest fill setting that sufficed for the 8-pound load. We then calculated water used per pound of clothing.

1.0
nightmare machine
6/22/2014
Pros
Cons
Doesn't Clean Effectively
Best Uses
Comment:
Cottons, especially sheets are so wrinkled by the high spin speeds, even on the lowest setting, that even ironing will not remove the fine wrinkles. Towels are permanently soiled probably due to low water amounts and high spin speeds driving any dirt deep into the fabric, leaving permanent dark streaks. Delicate clothing are stretched. Odor and soil remain. Nothing comes out clean unless I hand presoak. This machine is a nightmare!

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

returning it!
1/2/2014
Pros
Large Capacity
Cons
Constantly Unbalanced
Long Cycle
Best Uses
Comment:
The capacity is great but unless your load is perfect it goes out of balance and refills and refills with water until it can balance itself out again. If it can't it just stops. Every load has to have perfectly similar items and can't be too small or too big. I have never had to babysit a washing machine until this one and I have hated it since day one. We are returning it.

Pros

Cons
Load Unbalance Easly
Long Cycle
Waste Water
Will Start Over Again
Best Uses
Bedding
Delicates
Everyday Clothes
Heavy/Bulky Items
Towels
Comment:
Use it weekly for bedding and all cloths. Wish I would have gotten the glass top would like to see what is happening during the cycles. Like the large load but have to use the low spin most of the time to keep it from unbalancing. In order to keep from unbalancing I layer the cloths when loading seems to work and still gets the cloths clean. Don't seem to be efficient if it starts over after clearing the unbalance error.
How long have you owned it:

Bottom Line
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
