About - LG WT5070C[W]

The LG WT5070C[W] is part of the washing machine test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, top-loading washing machine models like the WT5070C[W] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Washing performance:
This reflects the degree of color change to swatches of fabric that were included in an 8-pound and maximum capacity test load of mixed cotton items using the machines' most aggressive normal cycle. (We do not use special cycle or option buttons.)

Energy efficiency:
This score is based on the energy needed to heat the water for 8-pound and maximum loads using a warm wash and cold rinse. We consider both gas and electric water heaters, and include electricity needed to run the washer and energy needed for drying. Washers that extract more water are scored higher.

Water efficiency:
This score denotes how much water it took to wash our 8-pound load and each machine's maximum load. On models that didn't set the fill level automatically, we used the lowest fill setting that sufficed for the 8-pound load. We then calculated water used per pound of clothing.
About This Brand

South Korean company LG was the first to market with steam washers; the company claims its machines provide real steam (created by a steam generator). The latest wrinkle from LG is what it calls the Allergiene cycle. That cycle, says LG, reduces and removes 95 percent of dust mites and pet dander from a load. LG washers range in price from $900 to $1,600.

Comment:
The machine does move around a lot during spin although it hasn't stopped due to an unbalanced load yet. Does not work well on heavily soiled clothing. It definitely uses massive amounts of water compared to my previous front loader, which cleaned very well. The cycles seem excessively long considering the poor cleaning results.

Comment:
Save yourself the misery,do not buy this washer. I would have returned it in the first month but it's hard to get out of my laundry room. Whites cycle is 1 hr 50 min. if it would get through one load without stopping 5-6 times. Who has that much time to spend on laundry? Goes off balance every load and shuts off if you aren't there to move the clothes around... yet again. You are constantly checking that it's running and rearranging heavy wet laundry. Keeps refilling with water which does nothing but increase your water bill. Called LG Cust. Svc twice but they are useless, wants to send a repairman for a new machine. It's a bad design period! Calling Lowe's to return it. I'm so done!

Comment:
Always off balance even with same siz items, all distributed perfectly during a spin. It still stops and adds gallons of water to redistribute the lad. Also leaves minor dried fod on fabrics and will not wash it off. Have to hand wash before washing in machine. Then stand over it to redistribute unbalanced loads multiple times during a single wash. Don't leave this machine alone or it will use 100 gallons of water to redistribute loads. Customer service is horribly bad, no service at all.

Three-to-six months
Bottom Line
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
