About - Maytag Bravos X MVWX500X[W]

The Maytag Bravos X MVWX500X[W] is part of the washing machine test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, top-loading washing machine models like the Bravos X MVWX500X[W] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Washing performance:
This reflects the degree of color change to swatches of fabric that were included in an 8-pound and maximum capacity test load of mixed cotton items using the machines' most aggressive normal cycle. (We do not use special cycle or option buttons.)

Energy efficiency:
This score is based on the energy needed to heat the water for 8-pound and maximum loads using a warm wash and cold rinse. We consider both gas and electric water heaters, and include electricity needed to run the washer and energy needed for drying. Washers that extract more water are scored higher.

Water efficiency:
This score denotes how much water it took to wash our 8-pound load and each machine's maximum load. On models that didn't set the fill level automatically, we used the lowest fill setting that sufficed for the 8-pound load. We then calculated water used per pound of clothing.

Comment:
This is the worst washer I have owned. It is extremely noisy-you can hear it outside when it is running. Has an annoying completion sound, light up like an alien. Put holes in clothes, towels come out with a bad smell. Have to run in on bulky, just to get enough water to cover clothes. My local dealer will not trade it in because he has no respect for the thing either. No more Maytags for me!!

I have had this washer 3 years. I bought it brand new and now have to throw it away. The control board needs replaced and when it spins, it is very loud. I bought a new washer in hopes that it would last a long time. I am very upset.

Comment:
Washer does not fill with enough water to wash clothes, towels, bedding. Rinse cycle does not use enough water and does not spray water on all the clothes.I have used most of the cycles trying to find one that works best but am not happy. I do not want to have to use a bulky cycle that uses way to much water, for a small load just to get the clothes covered and get enough rinse water. I wish I had been able to read more reviews before purchase.
