The Maytag Centennial MVWC360A[W] is part of the washing machine
test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, top-loading washing machine
models like the Centennial MVWC360A[W] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.
This reflects the degree of color change to swatches of fabric that were included in an 8-pound and maximum capacity test load of mixed cotton items using the machines' most aggressive normal cycle. (We do not use special cycle or option buttons.)
This score is based on the energy needed to heat the water for 8-pound and maximum loads using a warm wash and cold rinse. We consider both gas and electric water heaters, and include electricity needed to run the washer and energy needed for drying. Washers that extract more water are scored higher.
This score denotes how much water it took to wash our 8-pound load and each machine's maximum load. On models that didn't set the fill level automatically, we used the lowest fill setting that sufficed for the 8-pound load. We then calculated water used per pound of clothing.
About This Brand
This Whirlpool-owned brand is positioned as a durable brand but is priced a bit lower than Whirlpool-branded products. The Maytag brand has two lines, the Epic and Epic Z, which cost $1,000 and $800, respectively.
Energy star The federal Energy Star program, administered by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy, identifies a wide range of home appliances that use 10-50% less energy and water than standard models. These appliances can help you use less energy at home and save money on your utility bills.
Stainless-steel tub Tubs constructed of stainless steel are likely to be more durable than plastic or porcelain, and they allow for higher spin speeds. Plastic is the next most durable choice.
Auto temp. control This feature automatically mixes hot and cold water to reach the chosen wash temperature (which differs on various makes of washers). It's a good way to compensate for normal variations in tap-water temperature and prevents problems caused by water that's too cold, which keeps detergent from working properly.
Auto temp. control
Auto bleach dispenser Automatic Bleach dispenser releases the bleach at the proper point in the cycle, giving the detergent additives sufficient time to work.
THE MOST FRUSTRATING THING ABOUT THIS MACHINE IS HOW CLOTHES COME OUT DIRTY AND WITH STAINS.I'VE HAD TO WASH CLOTHES SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THEY COME OUT CLEAN, WHICH DECEIVES THE PURPOSE OF ENERGY AND WATER EFFICIENCY.I'VE TAKEN PICTURES OF MY DIRTY STAINED CLOTHES AFTER A WASH.ALSO THE CLOTHES GET TANGLED UP BADLY.I DONT THINK MY CLOTHES WILL LAST VERY LONG WITH THIS MACHINE.I DISLIKE THIS MACHINE,BUT I CANT AFFORD ANOTHER ONE.THE THOUGHT OF SPENDING MY HARD EARN MONEY ON A PIECE OF GARBAGE MAKES ME MAD. I CANT STAND WASHING CLOTHES NOW.THIS MACHINE IS A HUGE DISSAPOINTMENT.

Works Well !
Clean Clothes Well
Large capacity good size
Controls Little Confusing
A more detailed user's manuel would be nice. It's a new way of washing but if you follow directions and use correct detergent, it does the job as advertised.

Good Product - I love this washer!
Clean Clothes Well
Spins Clothes Dry
No Fabric Dispenser
I had 3 weeks of dirty clothes waiting when the washer was delivered. I followed the directions and everything came out beautifully! Since then I've washed chair pads and throw rugs with great results. I had hoped to get the top rated LG model washer but the limited space in my laundry room and my limits (I'm barely 5') precluded that. Thought I would have to get another conventional machine so was delighted to find this HE washer that would fit me and my space. I would advise anyone to read the manual before using and follow the directions. Some settings and the items being washed may affect any vibrating during the spin cycle. My laundry room is on the main floor so any vibration is not noticeable. I miss not having a fabric softener dispenser but am using a Downey Ball which seems to work just fine.
