About - Whirlpool Cabrio WTW8200Y[W]

The Whirlpool Cabrio WTW8200Y[W] is part of the washing machine test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, top-loading washing machine models like the Cabrio WTW8200Y[W] are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Washing performance:
This reflects the degree of color change to swatches of fabric that were included in an 8-pound and maximum capacity test load of mixed cotton items using the machines' most aggressive normal cycle. (We do not use special cycle or option buttons.)

Energy efficiency:
This score is based on the energy needed to heat the water for 8-pound and maximum loads using a warm wash and cold rinse. We consider both gas and electric water heaters, and include electricity needed to run the washer and energy needed for drying. Washers that extract more water are scored higher.

Water efficiency:
This score denotes how much water it took to wash our 8-pound load and each machine's maximum load. On models that didn't set the fill level automatically, we used the lowest fill setting that sufficed for the 8-pound load. We then calculated water used per pound of clothing.

Comment:
Even lightly soiled clothes come out as though they haven't even been washed. Does not use adequate amount of water and there is no way to adjust since it automatically sets based on how it senses the load size. <br />First high efficiency machine I've used and I would never buy another! I miss the ability to manually regulate the amount of water to ensure things get clean. Also very noisy. We are so dissatisfied, we're giving this machine to charity and buying one that works!

Comment:
I use this washer more than once a day for my family of 5. Best thing is being able to fit a very thick and bulky blanket in and more than 1 blanket at a time. Clothes do not get very clean-stains remain even after several washes. Washer beeps a lot with different codes often. Takes a lot of work to get a load to finish without the code beeping. For price paid, expect a WAAAAY Way better washer. Wish I never purchased! Error codes so often I bookmarked a reference page from the web.
