About - Whirlpool Cabrio WTW8500BW

The Whirlpool Cabrio WTW8500BW is a top-loading washing machine available from Whirlpool. The Cabrio WTW8500BW typically costs between $809.10 - $854.99.

Consumer Reports recommends that you match the features on a model to the needs you have. Here's our take on some of the specifications and features that are commonly available on top-loading washing machine models like the Cabrio WTW8500BW.

Energy star:
The federal Energy Star program, administered by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy, identifies a wide range of home appliances that use 10-50% less energy and water than standard models. These appliances can help you use less energy at home and save money on your utility bills.

Stainless-steel tub:
Tubs constructed of stainless steel are likely to be more durable than plastic or porcelain, and they allow for higher spin speeds. Plastic is the next most durable choice.

Auto temp. control:
This feature automatically mixes hot and cold water to reach the chosen wash temperature (which differs on various makes of washers). It's a good way to compensate for normal variations in tap-water temperature and prevents problems caused by water that's too cold, which keeps detergent from working properly.

do yourself a favor, buy a front loader. believe the people reviewing this machine, not consumers report they missed it on this one. Whirpool will not stand behind the fact this machine does not and can not wash clothes.

Comment:
My wife and I purchased this washer dryer pair two months ago. Not having items come clean, I watched an entire regular wash cycle through the smoke glass. I loaded enough clothes to rise up about 8 inches, while ensuring the center agitator was not concealed. I was amazed to see how much time clothes spent not moving, while not more than remotely damp. I would understand a soak cycle, but this was a regular wash. A towel on top of the load with a talcum powder stain did not come out clean. This is a water soluble stain...not a red-wine on white cotton stain. My regular cotton t-shirts come out still smelling sweaty. We have tried several different detergents including adding a borox detergent booster. Repeated washes negates efficiency in both less water and electricity use. Do it right, once, the first time. Very unhappy. Don't take my word for it.....watch it for yourself.

Comment:
Have owned it for about 4 years, no trouble to date. The only complaints I have is when washing bulky items, bed blanket, thro rugs etc it you have to rebalance the loads frequently, and chrome finish on the top lid has been chipped (bad design)..... Have been pleased with it to date and would have given higher rating if it was for the chipping of the chrome finish.
