Comment:
Bought this with our first child. It was great for the first 10 months or so. Then the battery life started to dwindle. Ended up putting it in storage until now for baby #2. It will not work. Only get a red light on the parent unit indicating low battery, even when plugged in. I'm guessing we need to replace the battery. As indicated by other users, I anticipate this to be difficult to find. Ugh. A real shame.

Comment:
We bought this shortly after our son was born because it had good reviews in CR. As soon as we plugged it in it started beeping because of signal loss. It usually beeps at least a dozen times through the night and we have even lost signal only to find that our son was crying when it finally came back on.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Comment:
After our first monitor could not pick up signal in our house, we returned it to buy this one. It is perfectly clear. We live on a small farm and we constantly test the range, which is impressive. It picks up clearly as far as I am willing to go away from the house while my son is sleeping. We have owned it nearly two years now and have not had a problem. The version I have was purchased at [@] sometime around Aug 2010 and does not have the base for charging like the one pictured here. Instead, it uses a simple wire.

Bottom Line
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
