I use this product everyday. Recently the monitor doesn't sync with the video unit even though it appears to sync. I have woken up on several occasions in the last few weeks to my baby crying and no sound coming from the monitor. (Thankfully I keep the doors open). It would be a great monitor if I trusted it to work consistently. You just never know...

I have an Autistic son with lots of medical problems and a now toddler sleeping in separate rooms. We have two cameras set up in each bedroom. One on their beds and the other covering the room (I would love to add more cameras, but it only does 4). I have owned this for over 2 years and am about to go get my 5th. I hate this monitor because it won't last more than 8 months before it will randomly start either turning off (the battery will be fully charged) or the screen and sound will stop working and you have to take the battery out to restart it because it won't let you turn it off. But due to my son I have to have a video feed on him and I have to be able to see his own room. I also love the fact that it will scan between all four cameras. I just wish there was one that is more reliable. This camera has helped us know whether there was an urgent need to go in the room and what we were up against or whether they were just dreaming.

We have owned this video monitor since our son was born, and have used it every day - he is now over two years old. Probably before my son turned one, we started having a problem with the monitor saying No Signal. It would flash off and on. I couldn't figure out if something we were doing was causing interference, but it didn't appear so. However, it didn't detract too much from it's functionality so we kept using it.
Also quite a while ago, the plastic on the monitor began to develop cracks around the area where the belt clip is attached. Possibly the belt clip is not flexible enough.
Then, a couple days ago, I unplugged the AC adapter from the monitor and discovered the tip had apparently broken off inside. Hence I am on CR looking for help in choosing a new monitor.
All in all, this monitor did it's job and has done so for over two years. It also cost us $200 so I would hope it would last that long. The camera has held up well and my only complaint about that would be the limited viewing area (depending on your needs!). It suited us fine until we recently moved our son from crib to toddler bed and wanted to see more of his room on the camera. I mounted that thing as close to the ceiling, in a corner, as I could get it but the view isn't great. Maybe 1/3rd of the room visible. And then it's more difficult to see our son on the monitor because the camera is so far away. :( Maybe my expectations are too high?
Just read all the other reviews. Our monitor was NOT on the recall, we never had any probs with the battery. Also, we leave the monitor by the bed, charging, during the night, and off the charger during the day when our son naps. When it's not in use, it is turned off. Not sure if people who complained about battery life were doing the same.
