Some models of the Summer Infant Slim & Secure have been recalled due to an internal battery defect that can cause the battery to overheat and rupture, posing a potential property damage or burn hazard to consumers. In February 2011, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Summer Infant Inc. recalled about 1.7 million video baby monitors with electrical cords, which can present a strangulation hazard to infants and toddlers if placed too close to a crib. CPSC and the firm have received reports of two strangulation deaths of infants with the electrical cords of Summer Infant video baby monitors. Consumers should stop using the recalled products immediately, and check the recall notice for more information.
