I purchased this carseat to replace the Chicco KeyFit when my grandson outgrew it. I used it daily since I kept him while my daughter taught school. It fits beautifully into the backseat of my RX-8 - no easy task! We were rear-ended when he was about a year old and he didn't even notice. It is very easy to get in and out of the car. I move it between cars when necessary. It only takes a few minutes with the alligator-style latch. It also is very easy to get him in and out. He is now 4 years old and still loves his seat. He has not outgrown it in width (he is somewhat slender) but might in height. They moved out of state and he wanted HIS seat rather than the one in my daughter's car so I am buying another one for my new granddaughter. I will use it from the start since it comes with a very nice infant insert.

Comment:
Of all of the items we've bought for our son, nothing has been more disappointing than this car seat. We loved his infant seat, so it's even more frustrating on a daily basis to have to deal with this poor model.

The seat was very difficult to install. The network of straps is very complicated, and the hooks for the Latch system are horrible. With the old seat, the hooks were simple to click on and off (while remaining secure). With this seat, it's a nightmare to click them on or off. I consider the seat permanently installed, since there is no way I would even attempt to unhook and rehook unless I absolutely had to.

The seat just doesn't work well. About half the time the release so you can loosen the strap catches and won't move. It's a workout to try and tighten the strap when my son is in the seat. Once I had to work on it in a parking lot for 15 minutes just to get it minimally tight enough.

My son seems uncomfortable in the seat. When we visit his grandpaerents and he uses their carseat, he is way more comfortable.

The seat is just shoddy. The cover comes off easily, etc.

We bought the seat despite the middling CR rating because it was designed to adjust to work with him as he grows, so I thought that it would be a cost-effective purchase. But I really wish we had just bought a better seat, even if it would have been usable up to a lower weight. The extra money for the extra purchase would have been well worth it.

I can't stress enough: Do not buy this seat.

We bought this car seat on the recommendation of our neighbors, who had just moved their son out of one. Our almost-two-year-old kiddo seems comfortable, and enjoys getting into the seat to go for rides. I love that you can adjust the height of the shoulder straps without taking the whole seat apart. It makes it much easier to get a toddler situated - just pull up or down until the straps are resting on the shoulders. I also love the strap-tightening mechanism. It's a rotary crank that ratchets tighter, rather than a strap to pull. It feels very secure and there's no way curious little fingers can reach and undo the mechanism.

Rear-facing felt like a more secure fit in our 2005 Honda Accord than forward-facing. We went from a Chicco Keyfit 30 infant seat, and the push-on LATCH connectors spoiled us. The hook connectors of the Evenflo are difficult to attach to our car's LATCH system, and the strap is hard to get tight enough to make the seat feel extremely secure, especially in forward-facing. I've sat in the seat while my husband pulls the strap, and there comes a point where it doesn't tighten any more. It still feels safe, and got the rubber stamp of approval from the installation officials, but it feels a bit wobbly to me after our Chicco.

Overall, we still really like the seat, and will probably get another one for baby #2 if s/he outgrows the Chicco before the kiddo hits 65 pounds or 50 inches (the seat's limits).
