Comment:
This is the only seat that can be used from infancy through booster mode, in part because it has a 10 year lifespan. Yes, other seats can also be used rear-facing, forward facing, and as booster seats, but often these seats get horrible ratings for rear-facing AND also are listed on the Do Not Use list for booster seat mode by IIHS (Dorel Juvenille Group's Cosco Alpha Omega Elite, sold at Costco).

If you have a tall stringbean of a child, this seat is for you, as you will find your child exceeds the height limit well before the weight limit. Example: My son grew out of the Graco MyRide 65 at 42 lbs.

I also love the security that the rear-facing top-tether gives. I would not ever recommend a rear-facing convertible without this feature. Watch the crash test videos--do you really want your child's head to hit the back seat? No? Then choose a seat like this one, with a rear-facing top-tether that attaches to one of the front seat chair legs or tracks in front of the seat.

I am a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician-Instructor, and believe that as long as parents read the instructions and/or have their Diono professionally installed, this is the perfect seat.

Comment:
I have two of these of this for our mid-size car and two of their newer version Diono Radian RTX in our SUV. It accommodate taller & heaver kids both rear facing/forward facing. It takes less space than other car seat (even the infant car seat, width wise)
It is heavy so not easy to carry around or move from one car to another just like that. There are different features/adjustment it requires some degree of learning/practice so once you learn the right technique it is easy to install/adjust
We love this care seat (including our kids). When they were rear facing this car seat gave them more leg room & so we were able to keep them rear facing longer.
I am writing this review after using the 1st car seat for almost four year now. I am really disappointed in CR review of this car seat and I am happy that I did not follow the CR recommendation in this category.

Comment:
...trying to choose the absolute highest rated of everything for your baby. This is pretty low-rated but as safe, comfortable and attractive as any of the top models. I'm a paramedic and wanted to keep her rear-facing as long as possible, and this seat goes up to 45 lbs rear-facing! I dislike cheap-feeling buckles on a seat, and these are solid and click smoothly. On the other hand, it's heavy and not easy to pop in and out. You don't want to have to move it often - we keep a little booster seat for occasional rides in other cars.
