About - Evenflo Embrace

The Embrace is part of the car seat test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, infant car seat models like the Embrace are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Crash protection:

We hired a contract lab to perform crash tests to the government standards as dictated by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 213. Crash tests simulate a head-on 30-mph crash with a 22-pound instrumented test dummy representing an average-sized 12-month-old child.

Ease of use:

Includes the clarity of instructions, installing the seat, adjusting harness positions, placing a child in the seat, securing the harness, and removing the child.

Fit to vehicle:

Represents the ease of securely installing the seats in cars with various seat configurations and safety belt designs.

Sometimes new is not better!
By Northern Alberta from CA on 10/23/2009
Pros:
Easy to install, Good WeightHeight Range, Light to Carry, Safe
Cons:
Difficult To Adjust, Difficult to clean, Poor Construction
Best Uses:
Newborn, Preemies
Describe Yourself:
Parent of Two or More Children
How long have you owned it:
Three-to-six months
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I owned a Evenflow in 1998 for my first child and loved it! This carseat although slimilar and fits into my old stroller the seat is poorly made. The once great side handle is now uncofortable and digs into your hand. The great sun shade is to short to do any good. The straps tanggle and the five point harness is difficult to adjust. The only advantage is it is light and you can carry it with your child in it unlike some on the market. It's seems safe but not the great seat it was 10 years ago.

not for small or mid sized cars
By New Mom from Silver Spring MD on 6/9/2009
Pros:
Locks easily into base, Rocks when on floor
Cons:
Doesn't fit in my Jetta, Handle inconvenient, Requires padding for tilt
How long have you owned it:
One-to-three months
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Recommend fitting in car before purchasing - eliminates use of the front passenger seat in my car.
