About - Chicco Liteway

The Chicco Liteway is part of the stroller test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, traditional stroller models like the Liteway are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Ease of use:
Ease of use is based primarily on ease of using and adjusting the safety harness, folding and unfolding, adjusting backrest, lifting and carrying, engaging wheel brakes and car seat removal and installation (only for compatible strollers).

Maneuverability:
Maneuverability is assessed by trained staffers on how well the strollers maneuvered S-turns through cones, narrow sections, grass, dirt trails, uphill, downhill and curbs while walking.

Safety:
Safety is assessed by testing for compliance with the most current version of the standard, ASTM F833-11, and stability and usage tests designed by Consumers Union.

Comment:
I loved my first Liteway so much that I got a second one (saw a great deal at a local store) in lieu of just getting new wheels. I bought the first one second hand and it had some wear on the rear wheels, add that to my use and it needed an upgrade. Yeah, it doesn't have trays for the child or parent, but I use mine all the time in stores. I like that the fabric comes off easily for cleaning (no screws like some Graco strollers), used it for a trip to Texas last summer and it was light enough to not be a burden to drag around the airports waiting for our flights. My son falls asleep in it often and I like the recline feature as well. I also like how the foot rest is adjustable and the boot at the bottom has come in handy a few times as well. I didn't give it 5 stars because the latch to hold the stroller closed could be a little tighter, my fingers have slipped between the pieces of the frame before and pinched me when I went to grab the handle.

Comment:
I am a first time mom, and I spent a lot of time researching strollers both online and in stores. I love this stroller! I boughts this instead of a travel system, and I'm glad I did. I started putting my daugher in it at 2-3 months. She is now 15 months and still loves it. It reclines easily with one hand, opens and closes easily, and folds up small. It rolls over gravel and grass (not super tall or rutted) easily like at parks. I am able to take long, fast walks with no problems. The handles are comfortable for me (5'5) and my husband (6'1).

My only complaints are the lack of a tray for the child, and a small storage area. But I was looking at umbrella strollers, and they didn't have either.

I am very happy with this purchase.

Comment:
I must say I really loved this stroller for the first year of my baby's life. It's a very sleek styled stroller that's lightweight, easily collapsible, reclines and more reasonable that a Maclaren stroller. BUT here's the problem...my baby girl is now 15 months old and has OUTGROWN the stroller. The 5 point harness has been adjusted to the max and it's too tight in the crotch and shoulders. No I do not have an oversized baby. She is 60% in weight and 90% height. This stroller should have lasted until she was at least 3 years old. Needless to say I am really bummed and am now shopping for a Maclaren :-(
