About - Contours Lite

The Contours Lite is part of the stroller test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, traditional stroller models like the Lite are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Ease of use:
Ease of use is based primarily on ease of using and adjusting the safety harness, folding and unfolding, adjusting backrest, lifting and carrying, engaging wheel brakes and car seat removal and installation (only for compatible strollers).

Maneuverability:
Maneuverability is assessed by trained staffers on how well the strollers maneuvered S-turns through cones, narrow sections, grass, dirt trails, uphill, downhill and curbs while walking.

Safety:
Safety is assessed by testing for compliance with the most current version of the standard, ASTM F833-11, and stability and usage tests designed by Consumers Union.

Comment:
My wife & I were looking for something smaller to tote our daughter (8mos.) in lieu of our current large, bulky travel stroller. After some diligent research, and a Consumer Reports best buy rating, we settled on the Contours-Lite Stroller Tangelo (I'll have a Tangelo smoothie please). Several reviews on the web address particular cons they found with the stroller the primary ones we found were:No parent tray – We try not to carry unnecessary clutter, there is a cup holder for the parents, and ample storage below the seating area (holds our well stocked diaper bag, my wife's purse, and other small items). Actually no top tray, is no problem for us.Seat adjustment – The seat can be positioned from almost a 90 degree sitting, to flat out – allowing a baby or toddler to lay down. The seat is adjusted using a strap that's very easy to use and adjust. As easy or easier that the click positions on our Chicco travel stroller.Child Tray – Some parents complained the tray is too high for their kids. AS mentioned earlier, our daughter is 8 mos., and the tray is a little high for her, but we bought this stroller expecting her to grow into it, and using it for a while, versus one of the smaller cheapy travel strollers. The Sun Shade – the sun shade provides fairly ample coverage.[@] had the cheapest price (at the time we ordered), and shipping was pretty good. The stroller assembly was straight forward and I had it assembled in 15-20 mins. It is light, easy to open, and close. This stroller is by no means as small, or as light as the umbrella strollers, but that's not what we were looking for (though much lighter and smaller than our travel stroller). If you are looking for a light, easy to assemble, easy open & close stroller, with ample storage, easy roll, stroller, that will fit your baby, infant or toddler as they grow buy this one.

Comment:
I ordered this stroller based on CR's recommendation and must admit, you get a very sturdy but lightweight stroller for a great price. It's a much smoother ride than our snap n go/car seat combo and the storage basket is just as big. My only issue is that the sun shade doesn't adjust forward very far, so we found our daughter's eyes were in the sun a lot more than we'd expected. We started using it when she was 7 months old, so I expect this will be less of an issue when she's a little taller. Just something to consider that you wouldn't notice unless you see the stroller in person.

Comment:
We bought this stroller when our daughter was about 2 years old. We had used the Graco Quatro Tour Deluxe since she was born, but needed a smaller stroller for my husband's truck.Once we started using this stroller, we didn't want to use the Graco stroller because of how lightweight the Contours stroller was to get in and out of the car/truck. I fell in love with the steering. When shopping in most stores, the isles are not stroller friendly with a full size stroller like the Graco Quatro Tour Deluxe, but this one was so easy to turn in between racks and isles.
It does have a cup holder for parent and child, as well as a child's snack tray. The parent cup holder serves its purpose well. We also love the storage basket underneath. For a lightweight stroller it is difficult to find these features. Love the look of this stroller. Ours has the ruby red seat color and looks sharp.
We did have one problem with our seat pad fraying about 6 months after purchase, but we called the company up and told them the problem and they had us a new seat pad shipped to our house within 1 week at no cost to us. It has held up ever since. Our daughter is now 4 years old and still loves to ride in this when we are out running errands or shopping.
We have a little one due any day and are planning to use the Graco stroller travel system until he is able to sit up well enough. Then we will probably switch back to the Contours stroller for everyday use.
This stroller is a great item if you are looking for something that is not so bulky like the full size strollers and you want a stroller that is easy to steer and push.
