To help make your car seat easy to use and fit securely, look for these attributes

Five-point harness.
More secure than a three-point harness. Almost all infant car seats now include this.

"Push-on"-style LATCH connectors.
Easier to use than hooks, especially when the vehicle's LATCH anchors are hard to reach or you need to remove the seat.

Level indicator and recline adjuster.
These make it easier to ensure that the car seat sits at an appropriate angle. Look for a ball- or liquid-type level indicator and a base recline adjuster that's easy to use, such as a button, knob, or dial.

Simple clips and handles.
Look for easy-open chest clips that your baby can't easily move, a simple buckle at the crotch, and handle adjusters on the sides that don't require a lot of force.

Easy harness adjusters.
Look for a simple harness tension adjuster near or below the crotch buckle and a single-step harness height adjuster that doesn't require you to rethread the straps.
