Comment:
This therm works ok, and thats about it. I would have given it 3 stars had it been cheaper. For $40ish you can get much better. It gives a quick reading for a squirmy kid, but you will get a different reading about everytime you use it.

My dr recommended to spend about the same on an ear therm and it would perform much more reliably.

Comment:
We have used this temporal scanner on several occassions on our child as well as ourselves and never seems to provide an accurate reading. Unfortunately our child has had several respiratory and ear infections accompanied by fevers. After comparing with different thermometers the temporal scanner was always reading much less than the other ones, which was also true when we would compare to the doctor's or ER readings. Once we became untrusting of the temporal scanner we would check our temperature after a doctor's visit and the temporal scanner was still inaccurrate and a stick themometer would be much more accurate. Needless to say we don't use the temporal scanner anymore.

Comment:
I'd been suspicious of the readings from the start; they seemed at least 2 degrees too low. But it wasn't that important, as I wasn't ill. I recently contracted a flu-like illness. Though I was obviously hot, the readings never exceeded 98.0, they read as low as 96.9. My doctor said this didn't fit the pattern of the illness. I switched to an under-the-tongue digital, and the old-fashioned glass kind. I was running fevers as high as 101.1. (Yes, I followed instructions for the energen and took multiple readings.)
