Comment:
I purchased this at the local drug store. I incorrectly assumed that its high price indicated a higher level of performance. This thermometer gave a reading of a slightly elevated temperature on my young daughter, who was clearly listless and warm to the touch. I took my own temp and got a reading of 96 -- so it was showing almost 3 degrees below actual. A traditional glass thermometer confirmed this defect. Because it had been a few months since I bought it, I did not have the receipt of packaging, so I threw the thermometer out.

This experience makes me extremely distrustful of CR reviews and ratings.

Comment:
This thing is not good as a primary thermometer. We use it on sleeping kids to get a hint of whether or not there is an elevated temp. Then if there is, we use the trusty stick syle thermometer to find out what the temp. actually is.
