Comment:
I use this thermometer on myself, husband and infant daughter. She is old enough and familiar with it now that I can get an accurate reading, but when she was very small she hated it and wasn't still enough to read correctly. It works really quickly so she only has to suffer for a few seconds. 10 seconds or 60! seconds feels like an eternity when holding a wriggling baby.

A note on getting consistent readings: IT TAKES PRACTICE! When I first got it I got readings all over the place, so I used it over and over on myself until I got a consistent reading and knew how fast/where to swipe it. My technique: start in the middle and move fairly quick toward the temple. You can stay on the temple for longer and still get an accurate reading, but if you move to slow and don't/barely get to the temple then the reading will be off.

It is incredibly bright. Flashlight bright. In a dark room, when you're half asleep and you turn it to use on your child it is literaly blinding until your eyes adjust. I can't see my daughter's forehead anymore while I'm trying to aim. It is my number one complaint. I also hate (the majority of)thermometers that beep. I'm trying to keep my baby, myself, or my husband as asleep as possible I don't need the anoying beep and the flashing °F. I wish it were optional or silent.

I've tried repeatedly to follow the directions and to get a temperature reading. About 1 in 15 tries is the best i've done. Before the batteries were partially used the unit simply stopped working.

My daughter has a temp. of 102.4 degrees using an oral, digital thermometer, just to see, I used the Vicks forehead thermometer 3 times in a row and it said her temp was 100 degrees, 98 degrees and 99 degrees. This is dangerous because a 99 degree fever is considered low and nothing to be alarmed by, but a temp of 102.4 (in a toddler) is very high and needs to be attended to immediately before it goes any higher.

I have had it for over a yr now, and it's useless. The thing is hard to use,you have to hit the power button, wait, hit it again, wait, hit it again then it goes to L, but you have to hit it YET again so the green light goes off, then it is ready to read the temperature and 98% of the time it is not correct. It gives different readings every time you swipe it....it's garbage, I can't believe it's still on the shelves.
